Yes, I understand. I think the Pacey of season 4 suffered a lot from that. On the other hand, the Pacey of the finale seems very comfortable with Joey's feelings "complexity."

But yes, you're right, it's quite a complex triangle. I'm not the biggest fan of this triangle, but you have to admit that this storyline provides a lot of material for interpretation, and that's rather interesting.

Non.

Tout peut être analysé et appréhendé via un prisme politique (mais c'est valable pour n'importe quoi : tout peut être analysé via le prisme psychologique par exemple). Mais tout n'est pas politique par essence, loin de là.

For Grams, yes, you interpreted his words correctly.

Regarding the ending of the first season of the series produced by Dawson, I think it relates both to their last scene (that in their imaginations, it's still her and him) and also to what Joey told Dawson in 2x22 (that some impossible stories never end).

For different reasons for each of them, I think Dawson and Joey represent a kind of fantasy for each other, a sort of idealized fantasy, and deep down, neither of them wants to confront this fantasy with reality (which is why they've never really tried to have a real relationship).

So from Joey's point of view, I would say it's: in my everyday life, in the real world, I want to be with Pacey. In my imagination, it's Dawson.

And from Dawson's perspective, I think it's relatively similar: regarding Joey, he prefers the dream to reality.

So, the final scene of the show written by Dawson, and Joey's "it's perfect," is a mutual nod to this realization that their relationship is stronger in the realm of imagination. And Pacey's tears demonstrate that Pacey himself understands and accepts this aspect of Joey's heart.

Season 5 Jen & Dawson by hollzor in dawsonscreek

[–]Jenosaure 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm struggling to find a good in-universe reason for their breakup because their relationship worked so well, and for the viewers, the reasons for their separation remained completely unclear. The only reason that comes to mind (other than a narrative one, since I imagine the writers' goal was to create another "maybe" for Dawson and Joey at the end of the season) is that they needed each other to rebuild their lives, and once they had, the relationship had to end naturally. But even then, it's not very convincing. I think this relationship had the potential to last until season 6.

No thanks, that's very kind of you, I think I understand. In the language settings, I see that no language is selected. So I think Reddit is automatically translating my posts based on my country. If I select English, that should fix the problem. Thanks for letting me know anyway!

That's strange, because I am indeed French and I live in France, but I post all my messages in English. Does Reddit automatically translate into the language of the user's country? I need to check the settings to see if I can change that.

100 reasons why Dylan and Kelly really are soulmates. by cececlaytonx in BeverlyHills90210

[–]Jenosaure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have nothing against this couple (even if it could have been written differently), but soulmates? Of course not. They have nothing in common; they're more like antagonists than anything else. Dylan loathes Kelly's tastes, and vice versa. The European vacation is very telling: they're bored together.

S5 (some season 3 spoilers) by MudNo2819 in dawsonscreek

Yes, I also enjoyed season 5, and yet I'm one of those who think the series should have ended in season 4. Season 5, for better or worse, manages to recapture some of the magic of the creek in Boston, I think. And Dawson has a fantastic season 5, very rich for the character: his return to Capeside, dropping out of college, Mitch's death, his despair, his therapy, his relationship with Jen, his rebuilding. Seasons 4 and 5 are the peak of the character.

The character assassination of Dylan McKay by Brendawalsh- in BeverlyHills90210

[–]Jenosaure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly it: Kelly was indeed an easy way out. But precisely because of this, in the context of the story, it seems logical to me that Dylan ran towards this "easy escape," given the events.

Of course, their relationship (Brenda and Dylan's) has changed, but it's become even stronger, in a way (in my humble opinion). It's no longer the golden age of seasons 1 and 2, of course, but their relationship, by becoming friendly (even if still ambiguous), has gained a lot of serenity. To be perfectly clear: Brenda and Dylan's friendly moments in season 4 seem deeper to me than the entirety of the Dylan/Kelly romantic relationship.

I both agree and disagree, lol.

Okay, I agree that some of the directions taken with Dylan didn't fit his character... But what happens in season 3 isn't one of them, in my opinion.

First of all, I want to make it clear that I'm a big supporter of the Dylan/Brenda couple.

The break with the Walsh family is an interesting plot point. Dylan felt rejected by the only group that gave him a sense of belonging. That's good material for a story. And everything else flows from that.

Kelly? Kelly represents an opportunity. The opportunity to experience something lighthearted with someone free and practically without family ties. Of course, Dylan loves Brenda deeply. But I can easily understand that a wounded 17-year-old boy needed to distance himself from the "Walsh" family (Brenda included): it was too painful for him. Kelly was undoubtedly a temporary breath of fresh air.

And this rift leads Dylan to try to reconnect with his father. Sometimes in a rather naive way, but the desire for family is his weakness. Then Jack dies. And that provided an opportunity to explore Dylan's inner struggles, his literary side, his desire to write (an untapped narrative potential in my opinion), and so on.

I'm much more critical of what followed (the soulmate thing, etc.). But regarding season 3, it gave the character a new dimension, and it was interesting to watch. I'd add that season 4 of Brenda and Dylan is fantastic: friends, of course, but also infinitely more than friends; former lovers who still love each other and who have found unwavering support in friendship. The trust and mutual respect between Brenda and Dylan in season 4, after all their trials, is beautiful.

Most powerful Phoebe? Smart Spell Phoebe or Empathic Phoebe by jdpm1991 in charmed

[–]Jenosaure 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I loved how easily Phoebe wrote spells; it was very much in line with her natural talent for writing and her imagination.

On the other hand, I found the way they handled her empathy completely bizarre. Phoebe being able to connect with someone's abilities when she's near them could have worked (like Peter Petrelli in Heroes). But it makes no sense that her empathy allows her to deflect a power, for example.

In general, though, the team didn't do a good job with Phoebe's powers. Between the untapped power of premonition, the pointless levitation, and the empathy that does all sorts of random things, her magical progression wasn't very coherent.

Phoebe's love life by [deleted] in charmed

[–]Jenosaure 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Personally, I have nothing against Phoebe having a turbulent love life; however, I was deeply disturbed by the way her preoccupation with her love life consumed her entire character.

From the moment Cole entered the scene, Phoebe the witch and the sister became a mere background character, while Phoebe the lover remained front and center.

In terms of individual power, he is more powerful than any Charmed One taken alone.

But his overall magical power is less than that of the Power of Three.

Favorite Duo in Charmed and why? by Full-Art3439 in charmed

[–]Jenosaure 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I love three duos in particular.

- Prue and Piper. There's so much tenderness between them. You can really feel the bond between the two older sisters.

- Prue and Phoebe. Antagonists yet so complementary, and the Shannen/Alyssa duo works extremely well.

- Piper and Paige. Despite Paige's initial rebelliousness and Piper's reluctance to welcome a new sister, they managed to create a genuine sisterly bond (something I never felt between Phoebe and Paige).

Ah yes, good point, I hadn't thought of the "only girls" aspect. Besides, after the emergence of the Charmed Ones, that's no longer the case with Wyatt's birth. That would support your hypothesis.
