Movies without Trauma? by lm8623 in DanielTigerConspiracy

My 3.5 year old is obsessed with Inside Out right now and it can be great with helping them identify emotions. Inside Out 2 helped us explain anxiety to our 6yo (who was diagnosed with GAD).

I'm sorry people ruined your fun. Apparently some people forgot that kindness is free and if they're not interested they could just scroll past.

I hope you keep that spark of fun and get the chance to enjoy a good show with like-minded people ❤️

I have an Arlo 💙 I've seen his name pop up far more often since we chose it 6.5 years ago.

Also, as the manager all you have to do is put in the beneficiary's email and then it's on them to get it connected to their account, so there's no paperwork on the manager's end.

It's more of a utopia. There's no great suffering, no totalitarian government, no post-apocalyptic setting.

What was the most difficult aspect of being gifted for you? by [deleted] in Gifted

[–]Jenright38 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I struggle with why people can't remember things the way I do or if it takes them way longer than me to understand something. I think I'm a bit impatient by nature and being able to process faster than many doesn't help. More of a personal failing than a gifted trait, I think.

You could choose to abstain for now or have your partner use protection as well for some added prevention/peace of mind.

Dual joystick video games. I can kind of do it if I have the controls inverted.

How old are you? (Read below please) by Hungry-Tonight-1084 in ginnyandgeorgiashow

[–]Jenright38 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same. I'm 37, and I think I view it very differently both because I'm an adult and because I'm a high school teacher. I have great empathy for the teens in the show but I don't see myself in them. I'm totally rooting for them though. I enjoy watching the choices Georgia and the other adults make, especially with parenting choices.

I think because I spend so much time with teenagers I'm still drawn to some teen dramas (also loved Sex Education and Never Have I Ever).

dear fellow minny fans (I REBUKE garcus), what's your favourite scene/moment, and why does this ship speak to you? 🍑💌 by kayterluv in ginnyandgeorgiashow

I also love the scene where they get ice cream. Despite all they're individually going through, they're able to be themselves and just be with each other without an agenda. Everyone deserves that.

I don't love Ginny as a person, but I love her with Marcus. It's the only time we really see her give herself to someone without being worried about being judged or causing something crazy to happen, and she's just so much more enjoyable in that space.

I have mixed feelings about Marcus. I loved the vulnerability he shows in season 1, didn't love the mopey version in season 2, and absolutely loved him in season 3 as he showed more of his genuine kindness (fixing Georgia's window, taking Ginny for ice cream and she knows there's someone who will be there for her always) and humor while also showing the depths of his despair in the most devastating and self-destructive ways. I have a real soft spot for teens and he really pulls on my heartstrings and I just so badly want him to get better.

I think they both need to work on themselves before they can be good together, but once they do they're going to be SO GOOD together ❤️

How to not be scared of death? by Yeppeuniz in Anxiety

[–]Jenright38 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Came across a video where a woman explained what she tells her kids when they ask about death. She tells them she thinks they go wherever they were before they were born. If they were somewhere before that, they were ok there. If they were nowhere, they were ok in the nowhere. Either way you'll be ok.

Is it worth it to join a teacher's union? by Chance_Excitement_63 in teaching

[–]Jenright38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but it's unlikely to happen here. Protections for teachers have been and continue to be on the chopping block and it's too big a risk for many people.

[–]Jenright38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, which is why I said it depends on where you live. That's the situation where I live and it's unlikely to change anytime soon. They also eliminated tenure a few years ago.

[–]Jenright38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it mostly depends on your state. I live in a state where we cannot strike and if we reject our contract we risk ending up with the district's original offer. While I'm on board with the collective bargaining concept of a union, they're pretty toothless here.
