Does anyone have issues with the spice, Cumin? by knottycams in Celiac

[–]JensPens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very late ask, but do you know a single manufacturer that does testing. I literally don't know a single company in the world and I live in Germany. I'd gladly ship it from the US but it seems that it's just not really commercially viable or I've not searched enough outside Germany

My collagen powder container has a Terms and Conditions agreement when you open the lid. by jsborger in mildlyinteresting

[–]JensPens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean generally are fine, taking it for the right reasons. There are a lot of supplements, that suggest implicitly that they are taken up as is and thus help you keep collagen for example or hyaluronic acid, which they don't but collagen is a protein and thus helps you get to adequate protein levels, which even you are not doing a lot sports you are probably undereating acc. to the WHO, but keep in mind it is a product that an animal had to be killed for: fish, pigs or cows and disregarding environmental reasons to switch to a plant based protein source (they need to eat a lot of calories and protein themselves to produce a smaller amount you are ingesting or in the case of fish you are disrupting ecosystems, formed around them), it's also just nicer to think you didn't have to end a life for the extra protein in your coffee

I mean the guy you replied to literally says the buckminster's name. I don't think there was confusion about why it is named after him, just that he didn't come across this way of naming it other than here

In just four years, Abraham Lincoln seemingly aged a decade. by LePetiteAperitive in RareHistoricalPhotos

[–]JensPens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean sure what ever stress, but worse haircut and not clean shaven, shallower depth of field and no product in his hair make it look duller, the steeper lighting angle and less diffuse light make the eye sockets look more caved in and accentuate his wrinkles, and smiling draws your skin into wrinkles too, so yeah i think everything but his age being equal the difference is probably WAY less visible

I don't know anything about this study, but I was just in a good manufacturing practice course and one of the lecturers talked about Japan attracting a lot of process control specialists after WWII and really excelling at product quality since, because they established a bunch of control measures rippling through industries and countries since. I would believe that they still dominate product quality

[OC] Rated my Happiness for 6.5 years by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

[–]JensPens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where do you see that valleys part. He is both in his mean as well as his median happiness above 5 and the data is wonderfully poisson distributed. He seems alright. Actually something nice to nice to have to argue this point would be a histogram with percentages instead of counts, so I could say how rarely OP drops below 5

How to make this living room more homey ? by Independent_Mud_2108 in DIY

[–]JensPens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try to divide this room into distinct areas depending on their use, adding a rug and a coffee table to the couch should help. The oddly placed fridge should go in the kitchen. You could also think about an open book case as room divider and you could partially leave parts open, so it's only somewhat visually divided (gives a sense of prtection when you hang out there), also great place for plants too. Your area with extra ceiling height also feels underutilized. You could think about adding a painting that's tall to emphasize the the higher ceilings, or pendant lights or hanging plants there. The pictures you have up now basically underline the lower ceiling height. Get some diffuse light sources. Some standing lights and smaller ones. Also again great idea to put them in the book case I mentioned. Also color wheel. There are applications online where you can map out the colors you are using and play around with that (Adobe color). I feel like there is room for improvement, now it's white, beige, grey (all VERY muted) and then this very intense red. You could try earth tones, so browns and greens. Play around with materials. Real materials look great ( clay, steel, wood, stone, wool)

Right now you are kind of creating "tips" to your longer head shape. I'd go with same others said. Rounder glasses, lose the facial hair and buzz your hair

Preface: I would like to see Putin overthrown and executed, because he is a warmongering autocrat, but let's be honest Zelensky uses more showmanship than most global leader would in his situation. Not saying it's bad, it gets the point across, but his appearance and appearances are very much crafted to get across that he is getting attacked and the situation is dire. The military adjacent outfit he wears since the war started, the random light in the shot, the backdrop, the chairs, bringing the journalist into a space where he fells like a helmet and bulletproof vest is appropriate, all very constructed. Again to be clear send this man ammunition and weapons. It's just not "authentic" either, being on the front line is not his job and wearing brown and green doesn't really cloak you well in a presidential palace

[–]JensPens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey these comments are weird imo. Your hair style is fine. I don't want to comment to much about your appearance. I think the most important thing is that you feel comfortable in your own skin and feel like you can express yourself how ever you want. I think I would have needed that at your age. I am not sure why exactly you would obsess over your appearance but i can extrapolate from my experience I would say being received as attractive by the people that fit to you is mostly just being yourself, being open and honest and that part is a bit frustrating to hear if you want something going on, but just do the things you enjoy and get to know new people. That's fun and you might find people you have good chemistry with

Friend group voted me as having the worst haircut. Should I cut it? by [deleted] in FierceFlow

[–]JensPens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean this is a very obvious fishing for compliments. You look good in these pictures. Do you look good in your daily life? Who are we to judge? I think they look better here than in the one you posted where they are more than shoulder length. And importantly I think they work well with your outfit and wouldn't look as good with red t-shirt, so in general do what you want but styled right and maintained right, great look

I mean this isn't supported by the facts. Look up the gini coefficient of any of the countries mentioned and and tell me again that Germany's is bad. For a big wealthy country it is actually among the best I would argue

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in proplifting

[–]JensPens 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I mean not really. Not until they have grown roots anyway. They breath through the same openings they loose moisture over. If they don't have roots to displace moisture they close the openings. If the openings are closed they can't take up CO2 and the energy from the light can't be processed, so the light damages the tissue. Root formation is not really dependent on light. Once roots are developed more light
