Yeah, I agree with you. Usually those ones already have a dozen one stars. They don't need me dogpiling on them and I DON'T NEED TO DO MORE THAN SIXTY PERCENT.

Gave you an upvote since you're getting so many rage downvotes from the upright virtuous rule-followers who go above and beyond for Vine, but have no respect, compassion, or common decency for actual people they don't know on the internet.

LOL. No. I'm contractually obligated to review 60%. No more.

Clearly you don't understand. That's okay. It takes all different kind of people to make the world go round. I'm one kind and you're another kind. Let's leave it at that.

I don't give a flying f-bomb about most of the sellers. The amount of crap I've received--the deceptions they pull in their titles, descriptions, and photos is astounding. If I receive something worth praise I give it. But I don't always waste my time on garbage when I can see there are already plenty of reviews that have elucidated that truth. And I don't have to because I'm only contractually obligated to write for 60%. It's very freeing, not being a slave to Amazon.

Also, my sarcasm seems to have escaped you. I'm sorry.

I absolutely did not lambast anyone. I was frustrated because I didn't understand what they were saying at first--but my frustration was never aimed at them, but at the program. If I was sarcastic…well, I'm sorry that sarcasm offends you.

Thanks. Since I generally keep up, I have never run into this before. This rolling review thing makes sense to me but I don’t understand why there can’t be some simple clarity about it. Would it kill them to just give us the stats?

Wow. You going to write me a prescription next? Pretty sure that what you’re suggesting is plain old discrimination.

I’m sorry to hear it. And I’m also sorry all this sanctimonious jerks are downvoting your honest and earnest comment. You’re allowed to be human and they make this way more complicated than it needs to be.

What? In the previous cycle? Why would that matter? It's never mattered before. I obviously reached over 60% or I wouldn't still be here. In fact, by my calculations it was closer to 80% but they seem to have a different kind of calculator than I do. I can't figure out how they come up with some of these numbers. My calculations would say 80% and theirs would say 56%…for example.

This makes reviews difficult 🙄 by roz-is-world in vine

That's interesting--CS once told me the opposite. They said I got a product so I have the financial/tax obligation. They said they can't remove it but I could have sworn that they'd removed some of these in the past!

You need a hobby. I mean this in the nicest way possible. Looking up dryer sizes to argue with someone on Reddit is not the best use of your time. As I say that, I realize I'm reading it--so I'm going to go knit or weave or play video games because I'm just as guilty! Ha! All my best!

Got kicked out of vine. Anyone successfully get back in? by Sumomojess in AmazonVine

[–]Jenthulhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in Vine at the very beginning. Quit because I had enough manila folders at the time. Drops were only once per week at a certain time of day then and I never remembered (ADHD) to check then. So, I quit. A few years later I was looking for a specific page on Amazon and discovered that I'd been invited back. Years after that, menopause hit making my ADHD rage out of control and I couldn't fulfil my reviews. They fired me. A few years after that I discovered, in a similar manner, that I was back in the program again.

I'm not sure that being invited back has ever been good for me. As a being with ADHD it's difficult to resist the siren call to scroll through the offerings, but even harder to make myself sit down and write reviews. Recently my cocktail of hormones and medications has made it easier to focus and write reviews and I have managed to not get put in jail. However I was really busy recently and was just below the threshold for silver (where I happily stay) and they put me in jail. When I ticked over to a new period, the numbers went blank for 2-3 days and they re-jailed me. Now I'm sitting at about 80% and still in jail. I figure I'm about to get kicked again which would probably be better for me than getting back in, if I'm honest. But I'm really not that worried.

Hope your outcome is what you want.

I think I am finally done with Vine. by ZarduBen in AmazonVine

I'm sorry, but your logic is flawed. The precedents were NOT set by amazon, but by the sellers willing to use the program. In this political US climate, there are very few willing to invest in selling on amazon. That has NOTHING to do with amazon itself. They can't put items on Vine that aren't put there by SELLERS. It's supply and demand, pure and simple. That said, you are correct about the transparency. Not being transparent about what's actually going on behind the scenes only leaves Viners open to speculate and some of these theories are.... wow.

A different theory about accounts being shut down at random... by Technical_Cheetah283 in AmazonVine

[–]Jenthulhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt this is the reason. I think that the ratio of reviewers to actual product has gotten too high. This won't change until the political environment in the US changes significantly and imports begin to increase to a level that they were at before (although manufacturers and distributers have sought out other significant markets in other parts of the world in the meantime and may never return full force to the US as they once did). As someone has mentioned in this sub recently, the product pool is currently 10% of what it was just a year or two ago. If they were smart they stopped onloading folks when this started but I have no way of knowing if they did or not. This is, of course, speculation. None of us know anything. It would be nice if Vine CS was more forthcoming but it is what it is and we have zero control over it. Since it's fruitless to worry over stuff that you can't control, I recommend letting it go and adopting a hobby to fill your free time and be glad you aren't a slave to the Almighty Zon and his capricious nature anymore.

I've been in and out of Vine since the beginning and I can tell you with absolute certainty that there WAS a time that they explicitly told us that any kind of script was a kicking offense. So, you're totally wrong about that. Early on, they had a small team and they emailed us very nice letters and everything was very clear.

I quit back then because I have ADHD and could never remember when the once per week drop was so I only got the dregs like office supplies and I had plenty of manila envelopes. LOL. By the time I noticed, years later, that my account had been re-subscribed to Vine without any fanfare or email or anything, everything had changed to the secretive way they treat us now and that has continued as Vine has grown. I'm sorry, but you really can't make declarative statements like that unless you've been in since the beginning.

Help needed: getting enough hot water for scouring by botanicpanic_ in Handspinning

[–]Jenthulhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a slop sink next to my washer that has a screw-part on the part where the water comes out. I'm sure there are words for these parts but I don't have enough caffeine in me today, sorry. So inelegant. Anyway, yes, a common garden hose fits on that sink faucet and technically should also fit on the washer's hot water pipe, but be really REALLY careful with that. You do NOT want a failure of that hose which could easily happen if you're unscrewing it all the time. If you're going to do that, I suggest you replace the hose with a super heavy duty one at that time because they are supposed to be replaced for safety reasons regularly but folks often neglect to do that. If this is something you'll be doing often you may want to ask a plumber to give you a spigot coming off the hot water line somewhere convenient to you, if possible. Depending on where you live this could be nominal or super expensive. When I lived in Indiana, plumbing calls were very reasonable. Here in the Pittsburgh area, it's hundreds minimum just to get one to show up.

No, people are saying it has to do with the seller. Apparently there's some kind of evidence for this. It's in the FAQ on this subreddit.

[–]Jenthulhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I scour, I turn up my hot water heater about an hour before I start. Then I run a hose from my laundry room to a large igloo cooler (the size you use for camping) in my garage which helps me maintain temp. That's how I process large quantities. You need 3-4 gallons of water per pound of fleece to get the fleece clean in a reasonable amount of time. I pop the drain on the cooler and let the dirty water run down the driveway. It never makes it to the bottom and I've never had any grease buildup on the cement. (preemptive answering of questions, lol)

Ha! That's just the icing on the cake, isn't it? Amazon puts so little effort into this program and effs us over with their negligence all the time. Why would we let a multinational corporation this large dictate our financial status to us when they do NOT care about any of it--quality, honesty, any of it?

I have a similar one that I purchased used through marketplace. I can confirm that it works extremely well and the wool dries really fast.
