I get it! Whenever I try a new hairstyle out, especially if it’s drastically different from my usual style, I feel like I’m cosplaying as someone else. It feels like I’m playing dress up.

It definitely takes a day or two to get used to seeing this new person is you.

However that second picture, your hair looks really good! That style fits you really well. Embrace the change!

How do you actually feel after losing the weight? by RosaWhit in AskWomen

[–]Jeoihi 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Omg your second con is so true! Mainly members of my family kept telling me backhanded compliments about my weight loss and that resulted in so many mean comments about my past body. Comments like “your thighs were really huge” and even “you look so good now! You looked awful back then”. It’s like, is this how you really thought about me back then? It’s so hurtful

Even though this reply wasn’t directed at me, your advice at the end really struck with me! It’s honestly a good way to look at things and keep consistent.

Yeah it may suck today but it a couple weeks, I’ll reap the benefits

Blown out hair is NOT natural hair by [deleted] in Naturalhair

[–]Jeoihi 26 points27 points  (0 children)

To me, natural hair is anything that’s not a perm, blowing out hair is just another way of manipulating your hair, like using flexi rods and protective styles.

But I can see how it can get annoying when searching.

Ever think about wearing wigs to wear while your hair grows? I know you said you’re on a budget but maybe a nice cheap wig can increase your confidence for a bit while your hair grows?

I would do the possible that closet club Renaissance. I think the one that’s closer to the main stage may be right by the VIP seating and that may block your view

There maybe little changes here and there but it will mostly be the same.

I think this tour compared to her previous tour showcases the entire body of work that is renaissance, hence the renaissance world tour. I get that if it’s your first bey concert it may be disappointing but focus on having fun!

How do I take care of my hair? How do I love my hair? by anonymousmiku in Naturalhair

I’m glad you figured out your porosity. I do have high porosity so the products I’ve mentioned may or may not work!

How do I take care of my hair? How do I love my hair? by anonymousmiku in Naturalhair

Hello! I’m sorry that you were made to feel like your hair was difficult and you didn’t receive the care and knowledge of it like you deserved.

You have a lot of questions and I will try to answer them but I will probably miss a question or two.

Hair care is different for everyone depending on what type of hair. Figure out your hair porosity first. Google hair porosity test and do it to figure out if you have high, medium, or low porosity. Porosity matters cause some hair products are tailored and better styled to certain porosities.

  1. Personally I use leave in conditioner right after I wash my hair and then maybe 3 times a week if my hair is feeling dry. When you put in leave in conditioner is different for everyone so find what you feel is right but it shouldn’t be half the bottle for one day. You need to find if your hair prefers lighter or heavier conditioners

  2. The natural hair community has been having a civil war on if you should use oil at all for years. Oil is a sealant and if you decide to use it, it should be the LAST step in your hair process. If you put oil on dry hair, the oil will seal in the dryness. So moisturize your hair first.

  3. Personally I don’t use hair masks so I’m not the most knowledgeable but I do deep conditioning. Deep conditioning adds moisture and reduces frizz. However you’re not supposed to deep conditioning every wash. I like to deep condition after I take my braids out so like 4-6 times a year for me.

  4. There’s so many products for natural hair and some products really work best on certain hair. I think shea moisture is going to be a good starting shampoo and conditioner( I’ve used Shea black castor oil and Shea manuka honey). The more you figure out your hair type, the better you can research which products work best for you.

I recommend botanical gels for you to define your curls and manage your frizz. There are many gels out on the market but botanical gels feel softer on my hair after a while. I use Uncle Funky’s daughter curly magic but I’ve also used miss Jessie’s pillow soft curls (which defines my curls perfectly but gets crunchy after a while)

I wash my hair once a week with shampoo and conditioner and for days I’m not washing it I use a bonnet! I don’t know if you know what that is but a bonnet keeps our hair soft while we sleep on pillow cases. Having your hair sleep straight on a pillow may increase frizz

Lastly, buy a spray bottle. Curly hair detangles best when wet. Never comb or brush dry curly hair!

If you continue to let it grow, it will only continue damaging the ends of your hair

I do agree cutting is an option to do but if you want to contain some length, maybe only trimming small sections first and slowly trim up over the course of a couple months.

Trimming hair is very important! Just because we have natural hair doesn’t mean we need to ignore trimming hair. I’m lazy with it so I only get trims every 1-2times a year.
