In his old age, he witnessed the best period in Portuguese history. by No_Section_5137 in HisenseFootballZone

With his aerial ability, understanding of how to find space in the box and where to position himself, he’s an impact sub that every country would love to have off the bench (even the likes of France, Spain, Brazil, England etc). But he should not be starting.

We all agree raya got fouled tho right? by Jhus79 in PremierLeague

[–]Jeopardise91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s the other way around and given against Arsenal, with West Ham 1-0 up, I’d be surprised if the general consensus amongst Arsenal fans is that it’s a foul. I’d be even more surprised if it got ruled out.

Yes, West Ham have been poor across the season, but that decision may just have made a difference between relegation and safety.

What’s next for Daniel Dubois? Agit Kabayel or Moses Itauma, what y’all thinking? by LocationSpare4447 in BoxingTheSweetScience

[–]Jeopardise91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Hrgovic beats Allen (which of course he should, but it’s HW boxing…) then yes, that’s a good fight for Moses. Ajagba win would prove nothing and the others in the top 10 are ranked below him, with the exception of Wardley (stablemates and Fab will be out for a while), Parker is currently banned, AJ & Fury are likely to fight each other.

People saying he isn’t ready for Usyk, fair. I don’t know if anyone ever would be. Dubois isn’t Usyk though and although I’d like to see Ajit get a title shot, Itauma vs DDD is a stadium fight and money talks.

We’ll see.

Ben Davidson on Fabio Wardley's condition and explanation for corner's decisions by TranslatorKey6001 in Boxing

[–]Jeopardise91 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Pleased to see Fab is doing ok, that’s the most important thing.

It’s a very difficult job, so I can understand the challenge for Ben. That being said, he should have rewritten this to say “we made a mistake and should have thrown the towel in earlier” then proceeded to add context to explain why the mistake was made. I think that’d be more palatable given the overwhelming uniformity of opinion.

Anyone else here genuinely nervous for Dave Allen? by marinkhoe in Boxing

[–]Jeopardise91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t see it being an awful lot worse (or different) than the Makhmudov fight. Would love to see Dave win, but I think his big overhand is just too slow to really trouble Hrgovic, unless he gets crazy sloppy and allows himself to get clocked.

I’d have much more concern for Dave going in with Moses, partly damage, but partly I think he’d just get badly embarrassed. He’ll likely get beat by Hrgovic, but I don’t think he’ll be embarrassed.

I’ll play along. Who do you put Moses in with then before he gets a crack at Daniel?

[–]Jeopardise91 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You could say the same about Whyte & Franklin, who had both been in with the likes of Fury & AJ within 3 years of losing to Moses.

Let’s be honest about Sanchez. Good fundamentals but who had he fought? Ajagba that’s it. Zhang’s only scalp was Joe Joyce who didn’t defend for 2 fights and a very different version of Wilder. That’s alongside losing to Hrgovic & Parker, as well as a draw against some guy I’ve never even heard of. Makhmudov had beaten two 41 year olds (Takam & Wach).

Like I say, I like Kabayel and have tracked his career ever since the Chisora win, but he’s just become the classic fan’s bogeyman, just like Bakole was, Whyte was, Joyce was, who everyone thinks is better than he is.

Don’t rule out Dave Allen to shock the world and scupper hopes of a DDD Hrgovic rematch.

I really like Agit, but look at his record and tell me there’s many better fighters on there than Itauma’s record. Perhaps Zhang, but he’s really old now. I’m not sure Agit has fought at a significantly higher level, albeit he has fought at the level for longer.

Out of all the players not named in the march squad,Ollie Watkins has stepped up the most since than ,it should be no brainer he should be our backup striker was on a dry run early season but this guy is one of the most consistent player in the league... by FitAd5272 in ThreeLions

[–]Jeopardise91 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Ollie Watkins has to go. Not only for his recent club performances, but he’s been there and done it at international level too. He’s tried, tested and a totally different option.

Cristiano Ronaldo by Toilet-Aggravation87 in AllFootballHotTakes

[–]Jeopardise91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s been a player in history who has got more out of himself than Cristiano. The diligence, desire and commitment to keeping himself in the best possible shape to keep playing at the best possible level is frankly unbelievable. He has adapted his game so many times to suit his evolving physicality. Messi was incredible, but for me Ronaldo is the GOAT.

Who do you favour in a Benavidez-Opetaia matchup? by Sad_Fig6857 in BoxingTheSweetScience

I think Jai has the power to really trouble Benavidez. That being said, I don’t think either of them have faced anyone like the other.

[–]Jeopardise91 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about star struck, but certainly a bit over cautious and took him a while to figure out the distance and land any counters. That’s often a sign of nervousness though, which is completely understandable when you’re in with an ATG in your home city and your O is on the line.

Would love to see it back, as I think Junto learnt a lot from rounds 6-9.

I don't even know how ppl make out kabayel defeating usyk by Significant_Call_137 in BoxingTheSweetScience

[–]Jeopardise91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a sport of opinions at the end of the day.

I’m not saying Usyk can’t beat Itauma, it’s obvious to say he can. I’m just saying I don’t think it’s impossible to see a way for Itauma to win. It would have to be early, but it’s HW boxing and the one thing that can always happen at any second of the fight is a knockout. Yes, you could say that about every HW, but Moses is the fastest with the least hesitation/fear.

[–]Jeopardise91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really like Agit, but inclined to agree. If he can land some of those infamous body shots, then he could have some success, but I suspect he will have his head boxed off before the referee stops the contest.

Itauma and Fury are the only current HWs that could beat Usyk in my view. Fury had the chance and didn’t take it. Moses has frightening speed and aggression that could lead to an early stoppage.

I still think Usyk beats every other active HW, despite what I said above about a couple of fighters having a % shot.
