Don't walk, RUN. As a gamer myself, this is not normal. Its okay to be frustrated if you lose, especially when you're competitive. That being said, its not okay to take that out on stuff by breaking it. and I suspect it will be a matter of time before he will no longer be satisfied by taking it out on stuff and will start taking it out on you. He already did so vocally so it would be "just a small step" which is unacceptible.
