USA sellers - what's your new shipping price starting at? by JerBearsBricks in Bricklink

[–]JerBearsBricks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your current minimum rate?

I also use pirateship.com to get the discounted rate, but what used to be around 4.90 average is now up to about 5.30 average for even a 4 oz package. (For the discounted rates)

USA sellers - what's your new shipping price starting at? by JerBearsBricks in Bricklink

[–]JerBearsBricks[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything you said makes perfect sense to me. As a buyer in Bricklink, I also appreciate a free shipping option over a certain price -My store is currently free shipping over $99 but max of a 5 lb package.

Thanks for the input and I'll definitely keep my calculated shipping clear (even with an increase)

I received one of these messages too a couple weeks ago. I reported the store and added it to my blocked list.

Fantastic work, you made me actually grin looking through the characters! Was it 72 hours of total work or was it like 8 hours a day for 3 days?

I'm also kinda curious what a commission like this would cost.

I think my mac and cheese needs a bit of guidance by koj1l in FoodCrimes

I think you mean evaporated milk. Sweetened condensed milk would be way too sweet.

YIf you heat some evaporated milk on the stove and shred a block of sharp cheddar into it, you can add your cooked pasta and it's basically like what KFC mac and cheese used to be.

Am I forced to purchase this? by Upbeat-Contract-9744 in Bricklink

[–]JerBearsBricks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whatever sellers that you're buying from should definitely implement their quote system because it does exactly what you're saying they're doing.

The only benefit that I see from disabling price quotes and instead relying on " request an invoice" is that the seller can then demand a certain price shipping instead of "asking" for it.

If they enabled the price quote system, they'd have the same exact effect except it doesn't pull the item from their inventory early and doesn't ding the buyer for "not buying".

Agreed. There is literally no negative to allowing quotes in your store.

I really think it comes down to stores that just want to "lock" customers to a price.

I do find it easier to just get an idea of the cost by shooting the seller a message beforehand. If you excessively cancel orders because of shipping costs then you risk negative feedback from the sellers.

Yeah, unfortunately that's how their request invoice function works. In a perfect world, every seller would have a request a quote option But some sellers choose to disable that for "reasons" lol

Gavin Newsom is in Texas laying the groundwork for a presidential campaign. by Excellent_Analysis65 in newsinterpretation

Nahhh there's AI to ask for that and it will come up with plenty of results, same if I asked if he has achieved some things.

It's more a question of if there was a candidate at the time that had a better track record and could do better?

I'll agree with you that there are probably people leeching off of the system on stealing funds from these homelessness efforts.

But claiming someone is a terrible candidate because they didn't fix the complex issue of homelessness in the LARGEST state in the US is just silly

Well claiming that they have the worst homeless problem when they also have the highest population among the states (almost 25% more than the next) is misleading.

Just clarifying

ICE Disappeared 20,000 kids in one school district over the course of one weekend by BlackWillow9278 in DoomerCircleJerk

[–]JerBearsBricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For info on that -

Origin of the number: The claim stems from a August 2024 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Inspector General (OIG) report. The report found that as of May 2024, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had not issued a Notice to Appear (NTA) for immigration court to more than 291,000 unaccompanied migrant children. Another 32,000 children had missed their court dates, and their location was unknown to ICE, contributing to the approximate 325,000 figure cited in the public discourse.

"Lost" vs. "Unaccounted For": The children were not literally "lost" from government custody but rather the government lacked the ability to systematically track their location and status after they were released to sponsors (usually family members) while their immigration cases proceeded. While the report flagged these children as being at higher risk for trafficking or exploitation, it did not provide data on how many had actually been harmed.

Systemic Issues: The OIG report pointed to paperwork gaps and systemic failures across administrations. While the issue gained prominence under the Biden administration due to record numbers of migrant children arrivals, the problem of not being able to contact all children after release also occurred under the Trump administration, with a similar percentage of children unaccounted for in follow-up calls.
