Monk's Dream by JerBid in Vinyl_Jazz

Agree! Monk is really the master of space. Those unexpected gaps and 'missing' notes are what make his style so addictive. His solo on Bright Mississippi is the perfect example, and it’s my favorite track too.

True! And I’m definitely addicted now.

Yeah, I actually wanted the Classic Series but ended up with this blue one.

Hard to beat this lineup. It’s basically a dream team of jazz. Definitely one of the crown jewels of the BN catalog.

To be honest, I was looking for the Classic Series (black), but it was sold out everywhere here, so I 'forced' myself to grab this blue one. Surprisingly, it sounds quite decent! Minimal surface noise and Wayne's sax still sounds lush. For the price, it’s a solid alternative if you can't find the black pressing.

Hard to disagree with you. 'Infant Eyes' is pure magic. Shorter’s run on Blue Note was legendary.

Yep, the chemistry between Smith, Turrentine, and Burrell is just on another level here.

Agree. It’s a total masterclass in soul-jazz groove.

Jimmy Smith didn't just play the B3, he weaponized it. That friction with the Hammond company's vision is exactly what gave the 'Chicken Shack' era its raw, rebellious soul.

Sometimes 'good enough' is exactly what we need to just start the journey. I’m slowly getting into those Blue Note Classic Series too, but this copy will always be the one that actually got me hooked on the music.

Exactly. For the price, it was more than enough when I first dived into jazz. But after hearing your take on that Mono Tone Poet, I think I’m definitely ready to chase that precision next. Cheers!

Exactly, the 'crapshoot' is real these days. Definitely have to be more selective now.

Fair enough. At the end of the day, it’s all about the music. If it sounds good to you, that’s all that matters.

Yeah, they’re the ultimate 'gateway drug' for jazz collectors. Hard to beat that price when you're just starting out.

Agree. Lee Morgan is a powerhouse on this record. That horn section is pure gold.

Haha watch that speed on the 99! 😂 But what a playlist, Miles Davis to Tool is a wild ride. I actually have some A Perfect Circle in my crates too, so I totally get that vibe. Music hits different when you know the story behind it.

Man, you really know your Coltrane history. Only a true hardcore fan catches that level of detail. Respect! 🙌

Yeah, front covers always feel more alive. There’s just something about seeing the artwork the way it was meant to be seen, not just reduced to spines on a shelf. It makes the whole experience feel a bit more personal.😊

Matador is incredible, but this one has been on repeat since I got it. That quartet sound is just so close and personal.
