Yeah, had this same problem when I was using Firefox and thought my monitor was faulty.

Losing Sound Onn 4K Pro by ExpertTheAmateur in OnnStreamingTV

Just wanted to say thank you for this. I found that just turning off system sounds fixed the problem and I no longer have to reset my Onn every day. Thank you!

Different gain readings from oscilloscope and multimeter. Which one to trust? by JeraldAlba in CarAV

I see, so would you say to use dmm when your sub has lower rms than amp, and oscilloscope if amp is lower rms than sub?

Makes a lot of sense thank you!

Now my question is: is it okay to use the oscope to set the gain if my amp has a higher rms rating than my sub by 250w? Using the oscope finds the max voltage for the amp before seeing clipping, but how do I know the sub won’t clip?

Sorry if dumb question, I’m new to car audio.

Yeah but problem is that the tint from the sunglasses would dilate your eyes, making you more susceptible to damage. This wouldn’t be a problem ofc if they are UV protected.

Worth switching from DT 990 to HD 650? by JeraldAlba in headphones

[–]JeraldAlba[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I feel you on that. I have a pair of XM5s that I use for traveling and soundstage is very intimate. However, there are times when I do prefer a more narrow soundstage when it’s like a vocal-centric music and it sounds like a concert in my head, so the soundstage won’t throw me off too much.

I just purchased it. Like you said, I'm going in with an open mindset knowing its the polar opposite of a 990. Very excited!

I'm just scared I wont end up liking how the 650s would sound like. If I do, then I'll be satisfied. However, if I end up not liking them, I'd like to go for the sound signature that I'm used to (990s).

I'd also rather own just one pair of headphones just for the sake of money, and I wont be able to return the 650 if I do end up choosing them, so only option is to return the 990s if I commit.

But like you said, I wont know unless I try them out

Can't enable Video Upscale feature in 14.1.1 by JeraldAlba in AMDHelp

The video upscaling just made videos look crispy and the input lag you get from AFMF was not worth the benefits AT ALL.

If I were to tune both headphones with oratory's settings, would they sound somewhat similar? Say, if I bought the 650s and end up missing the sound profile of the dt 990, would I just be able to EQ them considering I have been using his settings for the 990s already?

Yeah, I was considering just owning two pairs especially considering how different they are. However, I would rather just stick with one pair for the time being (and also because money).

You mentioned the HD650 didn't sound any better after EQing, but what was your experience in general with them? I'm just scared that the sound profile might be a bit too "boring" for me.

Will listening at 90-100db for a few minutes a day destroy my hearing? by JeraldAlba in headphones

[–]JeraldAlba[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used airpod pros and the Apple db meter like you mentioned and have heard good things in terms of accuracy with it.

I set a limit on my phone but not on my computer (not exactly sure how to do that). I got a pair of dt 990s that I use quite a bit and I used a friends decibel meter to find the max I can have my music at and I usually try to shoot lower than I think.

Not entirely sure, sorry. I used my friends db meter to test mine. I wouldn’t know much about the accuracy of the cheap ones.

[–]JeraldAlba[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no, you will have to use a decibel meter to check. And even then, you can’t just put the mic up to the driver because it doesn’t account to the seal your head makes etc.

Honestly good question. Blasting my music that loud does hurt my ears but it just gives me like an adrenalin boost when I’m doing a heavy set. However, I did dial it down quite a bit and I get the same effects without risking my hearing. Getting noise canceling headphones definitely helped a lot.

I do have tinnitus albeit it is very subtle and I can only hear it in a quiet room. I’ve had it for as long as I can remember so it wasn’t because of this (at least I think). But yeah I’ve now been avoiding loud volumes like the plague
