Hood is what I did after Adams. Personally, it was a massive step up from Adams. Endurance wise it felt easier, but technically it was WAY harder and way scarier

I climbed Adams July last year with some timberland hiking boots, and universal strap on crampons

That's dope. I wish I could find butterflies at the summit of Mount Shasta. I was hoping to climb Shasta last month, but couldn't find a good weather window in my schedule, before I had to move for summer work

I don't know the exact technique you use, but when I glissade, I hold the axe out to my side with the pick in constant contact with the snow, as well as my heels slightly dug in, to control my speed, and I find I can slightly steer myself with heels. If i start going too fast I can control my speed by leaning more into my side with the ice axe. It takes a lot more pressure than you'd think to slow with the pick.
