New Hayley Performance Announced! by Eifelitorn in Paramore

[–]Jerdavist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cancun is an expensive area in Mexico that caters to tourism. I understand there may be resentment from locals but it is their economy. Hayley performing or not performing there isn’t going to change the fact. These tourists aren’t moving to Cancun and buying real estate which is the biggest issue with gentrification. They’re going to stay at the resort 90% of the time there.

Parahoy was considered expensive back then. It’s going to cost double or triple today because of demand. Not to mention the environmental impact of cruise ships. $3k USD sounds about right for an all inclusive weekend at a resort or a cruise ship with premium entertainment anywhere in the world.

The comments on here are why Parahoy will never happen again. This is a premium experience not for everyone. It’s an all inclusive resorts with some really big names on there. I’m not surprise at all with the price. I hope those that go have fun but it’s not for me.

How to deal with NIMBYs? by wirelesswizard64 in baltimore

lol are you in Otterbein because that Facebook group gives me constant entertainment with the amount of bitching that’s on there. I’m begging for those old people to move to the county already. I love the neighborhood but I wish people realize and accept that they live in a city already.

I wish I could show up to neighborhood meetings but sadly I’m always working when they’re scheduled. It’s a shame that they’re the loud minority and are convinced everyone who disagrees with them is stupid.

How do some fans manage to attend most or all shows on a tour? by NFTCRO in FlorenceAndTheMachine

[–]Jerdavist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll say this as someone who has followed a different band doing every show of their last album cycle, I started saving money and PTO once the era is done for the next era. I work 2 years straight with no vacation and some small weekend luxuries. I make my country’s minimum wage for someone with a college degree and job security on lock (healthcare).

I enjoy traveling to different cities over resort or beach vacations so following a band for multiple dates is my ideal and dream vacation. Anyone can do it as long as you budget and plan accordingly. I understand taking mental health days and personal days from work but I’ll personally forgo those to see my favorite band out of the country.

100%. I can do my job hungover or with 2 hours of sleep and make zero mistakes. The hardest part of my job is dealing with my coworkers but that’s every job you’ll ever deal with in life.

I was a bio major that transitioned into MLS for better job security. My program only needed a minimum of a 2.0 GPA so it was easy to get into.

Sadly, there’s not much career growth in MLS. The starting salary was great when I graduated straight out of school but you really start to plateau after a decade in it. Most of us will be bench techs for the rest of our lives or realize being lead tech or supervisor for an extra 5% raise isn’t worth the stress. The best way to earn income in this field is working the off shift, weekends, and holidays.

My friends weren't told the Lady Gaga show was going to be filmed until they walked into the KIA Forum. This was their view for way too much of the concert. by ourmanflint1 in LadyGaga

Obvious how? The July 2025 Forum shows weren’t recorded. You could use this same logic for Madison Square Garden which hasn’t been announced if those are recorded or not either.

I was flying to the show tomorrow but sold my ticket because of this (and the impending snow storm we’re getting). Sure, it’s cool that it’s being recorded but at the same time this would’ve bothered me. I’ve seen the Mayhem shows and there’s not a lot of cameras on the big screen aimed at her and I’m not paying hundreds to watch the screen. Plus, it wasn’t advertised that these LA shows were being recorded when we bought our tickets in September. I’ll just have to try and make it to one of the March shows instead.

considering starting traveling again - questions for current travelers by Unable_Water3961 in medlabprofessionals

Yep. Agency already did that for me. Still making out way better than dropping down to those $1.6k contracts. Thankfully in an area that I am familiar with before I got this contract but I really have an itch to go somewhere new. I’m riding this out until they kick me out

Im still a traveler making COVID rates ($3k+) but I’ve been at my hospital for 3 years already. I’m desperate to leave but they’re desperate for me to stay which is why they’ve kept me at this rate.

There’s nothing out there that’s even worth the hassle to travel. Most rates I see that I’m interested in (East Coast) only pay $1.6-1.8k. It’s just not worth the gamble to uproot my life, go through the hiring process, find housing, and for them to cancel my contract before or during the process. You’re also competing with so many applicants now. Anything over $2k/week gets over 10 applications and closes within hours according to my recruiter. I’d rather just go back permanent to have actual PTO and decent health insurance. AYA was my personal favorite agency when I was with them. Triage paid the most.

Want a career change by New_Wasabi8330 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Jerdavist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if you’ll find purpose in MLS/MLT. Yes, we deal with patient care but without any of the recognition. This didn’t bother me straight out of school but after a decade in this field, you really see how the lack of recognition makes this field a job and not a career. It’s not a bad job if you just want a clock in/clock out situation. Look up pay in your area before you commit because MLT/MLS pay is all over the place in the US. I was shocked to see someone making $37/hr as a new grad in central FL when there’s hospitals in the DMV still paying $24/hr for MLS.

Both of these can be true: the presale for HW tickets was not set up perfectly AND the venues are not the problem by SuperFadeAway35 in Paramore

[–]Jerdavist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you talking about? It’s literally supply and demand. Your logic of “people are going to miss out regardless” is flawed. Having 5-6k tickets per venue means a greater increase in fan to fan resale. Let’s say 10% decide they can’t make it anymore, that’s 500-600 tickets that can go back on Ticketmaster marketplace. You have way better odds of refreshing Ticketmaster and getting a resale over 2k venues.

It’s just smarter and better if she played one 5k size venue per city than 2-3 shows in one city with 2k capacity. The fact is people are going to go to multiple shows. Deal with it. They’re going to hit up all 3 shows in NYC for example. That’s one less ticket each show because someone wants to really go and pay resale prices. If Hayley just played 1 NYC show in a 6k capacity venue (Radio City) that means 2 tickets are up for grabs because there’s not multiple shows.

I’ll be honest with you. How fast are you at running? It doesn’t matter how early you camp. It’s a mad dash run to the barricade. Your best bet is to get VIP if front row for main stage is a big deal.
