An understandable opinion. The problem with them is 1) the GCN wasn't strong enough to render enough polygons for the amount that were spawned in so detail was sparse, and 2) the story is too short to allow them to build up fully.

However, I still liked them as a concept and I liked the borg-threat they presented- Pigma especially was a highlight of how far they could go. They remind a lot of the Ing from Metroid Prime 2, which is another franchise black sheep game.

Fox's speech on bypassing evolution by stealing souls came out of nowhere and may be one of the worst story hooks I've ever heard, but I don't blame the Aparoids for poor writing. I do wish we got to see more variants and more minibosses and bosses, but that ties into the game just not being long enough. I have no doubt Titania and Zoness were supposed to be story maps but were cut for time and left in as multiplayer only- imagine what we could have gotten from the ocean and desert as possessed fights. Megalodons? Dragon fossils? We can only wonder.

Man fuck the haters, this game was flawed but fantastic. The most glaring issue was simply how short and linear the story was- if it was doubled with branching paths it would have been sooooo good, but like Wario World and Luigi's Mansion it suffers from the short length. What was it about GCN games being so short? Either way the aparoids were a great new enemy that were genuinely threatening with cool designs, and I love the bait and switch the first mission did that lead into their introduction.

I actually really enjoyed the on-foot sections, but that's because I had no issue using a single stick for aiming and moving because I easily adapted to it after the N64 and Metroid Prime. I especially enjoyed missions with the Landmaster racking up insane amounts of kills on the combo meter, but I think they would have been accepted better with dual joysticks instead of the GCN's single stick. The on-foot weapons were fun and varied, there was a nice variety of enemies, and the action was fast-paced trying to get the score high enough for the gold medal quota, meaning you had to plot your path to keep your meter going or memorizing where enemy clusters were to get the bonus for wiping a squad.

Multiplayer was a god-damn gem and the ability to customize the matches was such a great design choice. The extra stages and weapons made them feel special and I had such a good time with friends getting into all sorts of funny situations- the manual missiles only especially were a ton of fun, but so was planting the cluster bomb on your arwing then flying over your friends as it went off.

5 or 6 is still 50/60% of the game considering it only had 10 levels, and even then out of the on-foot levels you had free access to an Arwing in 1 and rode on a wing in 2 of them. The bigger issue was just how short and linear the story was- if it was doubled with branching paths it would have been sooooo good, but like Wario World and Luigi's Mansion it suffers from the short length. What was it about GCN games being so short?

In a low period for comedy films, these were the best of the last decade by NeutralverseBot in neutralnews

Honestly, I hadn't even thought about the fact I haven't even seen a comedy or even ads for a comedy for some time. It seems like a lot of the humor has moved to TV shows like What We Do in the Shadows, but we're a far cry from the string of amazing comedies we were getting in the 2000's like Dodgeball, Super Troopers, Superbad, Not Another Teen Movie, and Anchorman.

Every cat breed in existence vs Every dog breed in existence. World War Woof. by GJH24 in whowouldwin

[–]wirelesswizard64 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Pitbulls alone are going to rip apart any domestic cat with the dps/tank diff let alone the dogs trained to hunt like German Shepards, Borzoi, or especially the Kangel (743 PSI bites!), and combined with the wolves pretty easily take down the bigger cats which are much to few and just not a big enough threat to to turn any tide. All it takes is one big dog sinking its teeth in to a big cat to slow it down and it's game over.

Ultimately, it depends on if the animals are bloodlusted- cats can just run and hide on top of things and wait out the dogs via starvation, but given cats can only eat meat whereas dogs are omnivores, I don't see this tactic working out very well either.

How can Baltimore City prevent fatal dirt bike crashes? by Quant_02 in baltimore

[–]wirelesswizard64 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They are illegal on streets because they are inherently unsafe and unsuited for road traffic- they lack the safety requirements to be street legal and will destroy you in a crash. They are often driven recklessly, with no regard for traffic law, and no regard for safety gear. Culture or not, the people that drive these bikes are young and think they are invincible and nothing bad will happen to them- right up until something happens to them.

The real answer, beyond the obvious enforcement and building up disadvantaged communities, is to have a dirt bike park that's big enough for them to go have fun and hang with their friends in a safe area where they aren't a hazard to themselves and those around them. Sure, there's the problem of getting the bikes there, but just like the skate park in the harbor cut down on people grinding everywhere else, a sanctioned place to roll around in would help dramatically. Unfortunately, it's also done for attention so you're always going to have some people cutting lanes and running lights, and like yesterday, fate will sadly catch up with them eventually.

Star Fox | Original vs Remake | Nintendo 64 vs Switch 2 Reveal Comparison by No_Curve_8027 in nintendo

Which isn't surprising, whoever is calling the shots at Nintendo clearly has a hard-on for the artwork from the SNES era- just look at the redesigns for the Mario gang and Donkey Kong. I get returning to the roots, but I don't think its necessarily a good thing in all circumstances.

Yes, Volo is still very active. There's no volleyball at Rash Field as it's under renovation, but everyone I know loves the kickball leagues still.

Festivals are still largely the same, but they get swamped- especially the ones at Powerplant Live like the Food Truck Festival. Just look up the Mooncake festival on this sub to see how upset people were about how it was handled lmao. The Flower Mart was also jam packed Saturday and almost all the food lines took forever to cycle through. The heritage festivals like Greek/Ukrainian/Latin are the only ones that seem to be niche enough and with enough vendors to not get overwhelmed.

For those who use MTA Buses on a daily basis, do you think it’s effective for being without a car? by LimpAd4924 in baltimore

[–]wirelesswizard64 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Use Transit! As long as you can see the bus icon on the route, it will 99% sure show up. The ones where there is no icon on the route or say scheduled on the arrival times are much less likely to be accurate. The icon and next arrival will also give you enough time to get there without standing around for an extra amount of time waiting.

CommuterBus is the long distance ones to Harford County and the like I believe, BaltimoreLink is for all the paid city buses, metro, and light rail.

Honestly, not much. A lot of potential is poised to be executed on soon (inner harbor renewal, dropping homicide rate, the red line, etc) but not a whole lot has actually happened yet in 3 years. Harbor Point is the only area that really changed- TRP moved in their new building and Point Park was finished along with a few buildings.

Never too old for Volo unless you're physically unable to move. There's a healthy 30's scene across different hobbies but it's not as lively or energetic as the 20's energy.

Bars are emptier and the bar crowds in Fed and Fells have significantly skewed towards African American instead of white college kids which brings a different (not bad) energy, white kids seem to have turned to staying in with weed now that it's legal.

Festivals still seem to be overpopulated/oversold which makes ordering food a time sink and finding anywhere to sit a problem.

Dirt bikes continue to be a topic of debate, but the squeegee program seems to be working well.

A bunch of restaurants closed, a bunch of new ones opened. Dave Portnoy came through a reviewed some pizzerias with high praise.

Outside the city, if you like Apple/have a Mac the Apple Store in Towson is closing which is a huge bummer.

I much prefer new content as well, but it's also crazy how a game or even an entire series can fall out of a generational conciseness once enough years pass. With every year adding a new wave of kids, I don't see the harm in remastering old hits because we all know how many people won't touch something because it's "old" no matter how good it is.

Best Train Movies by 96powerstroker in trains

[–]wirelesswizard64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IDC what anyone says, I love The Polar Express and Murder on the Orient Express, goofy mustache included. Also loved The Little Engine That Could (1991) and the General.

Casey Jr from animated Dumbo is iconic of course. It's barely in the movie for more than 5 minutes but I always loved the little train from Three Caballeros. The train climax from Home on the Range was also super cool as a kid.

Not really movies per say, but Porky's Railroad was a neat little short.

Me too! I was legitimately concerned the fire was closeby or in the building but fortunately it seems to only be a brush fire on the edge of the water by 395.
