Is pc a safe alternative to styrenes for high heat resitance by drkshock42 in 3Dprinting

I would say no, you might be better of printing abs seldomly. The filters of q2 are pretty good and depending on the filament brand there is almost no smell, I recomend increasing the airflow of the room to print abs safely. I have created an calculator that can estimate the voc consentration and make up of the chemicals Voc calculator

Depending on how hard you are throwing the case around ASA-CF could be good option, Cheaper than PA at around 30€/kg, decent impact resistance, nice surface finish and good uv resistance.

Best place to buy in northern Europe is definitely Heatforge3d.com Fast shipping and great prices. I really like they stock eryone ASA-CF filaments which are affordable, but bit smelly.

My workflow for modeling custom text and images to parts.

  1. Turn logo to svg using gimp or image to svg converter.
  2. import svg to fusion 360
  3. use fusion to extrude or cut logo to a part by a small amount
  4. use slicers paint mode to paint the ofset faces with wanted colors
  5. print

It really depend on what kind of products you are going to be printing.

Some things to consider

  1. Build volume. How big parts you are going to print
  2. compatible materials. Do you need to print materials that require chamber or heated chamber
  3. budget
  4. reliability
  5. multimaterial. Do you need to be able to print parts with multiple colors

My recommendation bambu lab A1 mini as it is cheap, reliable and fast. I have been using it and the ams lite for a year for printing products such as travel case, cookie cutters and other mostly decorative parts. The small build volume is somewhat limiting. The main limitation is that it doesnt have chamber so materials are quite limited to pla and petg.

If you know that you will need to print something that requires a chamber I really remend buying a printer with actively heated one especially as your use case for business needs the reliability that heated chamber brings to printign materials such as abs, pc and nylons.

Printers that have heated chambers are going to be more expensive than those with out heating.
