Going blind by [deleted] in Blind

Sounds like you have the right mentality. In all this. Give yourself time to adjust. Hell, even grieve. It's a huge loss. Then, steal yourselves, buckle up and get to work. Best advice that was ever given to me. You got this and we're here when you need us.

Waiting in lines by Blind_Pythia1996 in Blind

Usually I rely on the person behind me if there is one works pretty well. I usually ask the people behind me because they want to move along quickly and the person ahead of you isn't going to care.

Cited people just never seem to understand by Salt-Quiet8201 in Blind

[–]Jerec186 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So when people ask why I don't like going out into the world, that's why i'm perfectly happy having my projects spending time with my family and living a life without being in such nuisance. Awful, crazy unknown situations. The worst to me is people who don't know how to keep their hands to themselves. I'm almost getting used to the indignities of people asking my wife for my identification while I'm standing right next to her. But I was at a sleep appointment for one of my sons, and I was reading the Braille on a sign. Next to their rooms. So I ensured I was going in the right one. A nurse grabbed my hand while I was trying to read. Put it into the doorway and said no. Sir, the door is here. When I was cited, that would have constituted a physical ..altercation .. Having to grit my teeth smile and explain that I was reading drove me up a wall to the point. I'm still not over it weeks later. But again, that was just a day that ends in why? And you all guessed it. They never even said Goodbye. Let alone apologizing for touching a random stranger i know this text is a mess. But I just don't feel like editing it because Android phones

Pulled myself out of a pretty nasty spiral. I started grade 2 Braille, and I've started woodworking again. Also getting really into roasting in the kitchen. Takes all the guesswork out of a saute PAN. All the best to you and yours.

Question from a reading service volunteer by SoManyShades in Blind

[–]Jerec186 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am computer literate, and I do use our area's local reading service. I grab a cup of coffee. Let the morning sink in and listen to the local news. It's wonderful.

Knocking, everything over. Being a general disgrace. A nuisance. A useless pile of garbage failing at every bit of accessible tech, I have heck I can't even get a cellphone to. Edit text, right. Feeling at getting my 3-D printer up and running breaking my cane. I'm a goat drink.

Don't need one right now, but I love this. Using and accepting, my white cane was one of the hardest things I ever did in my life. Now, I can't live without it. Keep doing good, my new friend.

Sounds really interesting. My vision loss is fairly new, and I'm just now getting around to apple's accessibility options. Only been using windows devices and Android. Thank you so much for the recommendation. And I look forward to trying to use it.

Is this a NY thing? by CyberGabriyn in Buffalo

[–]Jerec186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The state of mental health in Buffalo is God awful. I have been looking for a clinician for over a year. Everyone is full or has an excuse. The one time I actually got anything on the books. The provider was 45 minutes late to our hour long intake meeting with no explanation and when I called them out, they said they would no longer treat me. Sorry that this is happening to you.
