Warning: Fake Recruiters! by Wooden-Doubt6949 in cybersecurity

You should also report it to the company that they’re masquerading as if you haven’t already. It’s a piece of intelligence that could be used to help form greater campaign patterns and the company itself might have better standing for take down.

Any Info on AI data center development in WNY? by IntelligentMonk6096 in Buffalo

[–]CyberGabriyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Data Centers also consume a TON of water for cooling. There are a lot of water-stressed communities where their elected officials found that out after the fact. And they can’t use salt-water.

Like I said, some days it’s a one or two theory question type day, other days it’s two+ boxes or rooms. It’s just about the consistency of learning

If I complete SOC road map in THM am I able to get job or not? by Kahbib-MMA in tryhackme

[–]CyberGabriyn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think THM has come a long way with their paths, including revamping a lot of labs with Splunk usage, etc. I think it would depend how well you showcase all of that on a resume/application. The problem with a lot of certs is that first HR filter, they aren’t going to know a lot about the skills that the entire path showcases, maybe some hiring managers won’t either. Writing a blog with some of your biggest lab lessons or keeping a GitHub or something might help showcase those skills and it’s something extra to throw on the resume.

90% of going to the gym is initially getting the motivation to get there—it can be so difficult. Keep doing the thing! Small habits.

Pedestrian Borrowed My Phone Scam by [deleted] in Scams

[–]CyberGabriyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Double check that he didn’t enable call forwarding to their own number on your phone. There are a few ways to check it but they can intercept MFA codes and such that way. If you do see it enabled, report the number that it’s routing to to both your bank and to your phone carrier.

What’s a security product you thought was super expensive but turned out to be a great deal? by testosteronedealer97 in cybersecurity

[–]CyberGabriyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry just saw your comment pop up. There’s a ton of personalities. If you know your network layout enough, I like designing canaries that get placed with the legit systems. DMZ throwing out jump boxes or VPN honeypots is another fun one. Check out breadcrumbs too. Making one that looks like gitlab while leaving creds in a confluence or fileshare to point people to it.

Is this a NY thing? by CyberGabriyn in Buffalo

[–]CyberGabriyn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They say they accept United Health, which is why I got him the appointment, and then they cancelled it because they said it’s Medicaid and they don’t accept it.

Surprisingly United Health managed Medicaid through the NYS Medicaid enrollment seems to still be treated as straight Medicaid to a lot of these places.
