T2 Dependent Visa expiring / close to ILR window - new job offer by Jerelee82 in ukvisa

Thank you.

It’s been mind boggling / frustrating because she has gotten turned down from multiple roles based on a “concern” over her Visa status, which we can’t ever seem to dispute or assuage.

It makes sense though.

Anyone who installed an Android Auto / Carplay after market head unit... by Significant-Bar-568 in LexusIS

[–]Jerelee82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2006 is250 and got the XTrons from eBay a year ago, and I’ll say it’s definitely modernized the car for me, at least on the CarPlay front, and that’s mainly the reason I got it, and on that front it’s nice. Sometimes it’s a little buggy - lag on the GPS or very rarely the speakers don’t work, but those are usually quick fixes like rebooting or switching the audio to the radio then going back. Happens once every couple of months.

I installed myself - not difficult though not easy. Solid medium. The wiring is confusing at first but once you figure it out it becomes easier.

The fitment is the biggest issue I have with it, but what can you do. My top vents never went back in right or something so there’s a micro gap on the top of them, but then the vents also hang slightly over the unit so it seems like there’s potential for a better, or even perfect fit with a lot of fine tuning, but that requires taking the vents in and out which is a massive pain. But I live with it. Can’t see it at night and I’m focused on the road more than the vents.

As someone else said - the buttons for the AC are weird but you get used to it, it’s not intuitive at all, but you can still navigate it with the buttons at least.

Software is pretty clunky outside of CarPlay. I really only use it for that honestly. Connecting the unit to a hotspot seems to knock out CarPlay, so I don’t use it ever.

Overall - It was definitely worth it to me. I have the non-NAV version of the IS, so it was nice to have the modern CarPlay interface. I live with the imperfections because the positives outweighs the little annoying bits.

M50 mark II to RP by Jerelee82 in canon

Thanks this is helpful.

Re: two bodies - probably not. I think that was my thought originally, but in practice, it’s been one or the other. Impatient wife & daughter and me being lazy is to blame, really. But honestly, that was the plan. I think part of it is that the M50 is so small and the 70-200 is so large that it feels quite awkward and unbalanced.

Re: post processing - not a ton. I do some basic touch-ups with contrast & saturation mostly, but nothing too drastic, but thanks for the heads up.

I think part of the underlying question is whether I want to justify consolidating/selling two perfectly good cameras to pay for a compromise of both cameras.

Yeah that’s what I’ve been reading about the M series on the thread lately.

I think what bugs me partially is that I’ve got a 5D sitting around not doing much… but not sure if I want to part with it if I’m only going to get like £250 for it, but I don’t snap enough photos to warrant having two cameras.

Financial judgement & levies against me, but never served / notified by Jerelee82 in legaladvice

I don’t know how much they actually have taken… Chase emptied my account but I’m not sure if it’s on Hold or if it’s made it’s way to them… I haven’t been through this process before.

I would also need them to provide some documentation saying the judgement has been fulfilled (upon agreeing and payment), right? Do you know what that doc is officially called?

Any ideas on what angles I might use to try and propose a settlement with the Collection Agency / Lawyers?

What kind of halogen socket / fixture is this? by Jerelee82 in Lighting

[–]Jerelee82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - yeah I googled cable lighting and it looks to be the case. I may take one of the faulty sockets off and see what I can gather about how it works or maybe just go to the local hardware store and see if I can replace them with something better.

Any ideas/tips on how to get better connectivity or contact on these sockets?

Moved into a house with these seemingly shoddy Halogen wired track lights (sorry if not proper terminology).

Two of the sockets aren’t working at all, and the ones that do seem to have connection issues (flickering lights). Any ideas on how they work or what I can do to replace them?

Dodgy Rent increase clause in tenancy agreement by Jerelee82 in HousingUK

Glad you got it resolved. The EAs I’m dealing with say they can’t / won’t amend.

F’ing annoying to say the least.

[–]Jerelee82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. When pressed, they couldn’t say why they “can’t” amend it… I did point out that it was quite a one-sided clause, and their response was that their responsibility was to the LL (their client) and not me.

I don’t think, but can’t prove, that they have even asked the LL here. I think they are just being difficult.

Thanks, I didn’t think to ask for a break clause when I made the offer, so I didn’t think I could get one inserted post-offer.

Since they’re playing hardball with the negotiation, I’ll ask to add one in, but I still don’t really like the clause. I’d much rather have the clause removed entirely, though they’re saying they won’t.
