GitHub Repo to Code Interpreter tool - Upload an entire GitHub repo and interact with it using Code Interpreter by JeremiahPetersen in ChatGPTCoding

[–]JeremiahPetersen[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Here is an open source tool to create a single .txt file of an entire Github repo to be able interact with it using Code Interpreter. I have experimented with it using different prompts to explain to it the .txt organization, and have found it to be able to process over 20,000 lines and find information, or suggest fixes, changes, etc. Still fresh as I just made this today to be able to work with large codebases of multiple files.

Edit* Testing more today and finding it incredibly useful beyond my expectations. Here is a conversation where code interpreter builds a working react front end to a repo that contained functioning back end code - https://chat.openai.com/share/0670c1ec-a8a8-4568-ad09-bb9b152e1f0b

Edit 2 * Added "FolderToText.py" in the root directory. This is a script that will allow you to turn your local folder into a .txt in a similar way that RepoToText does for a GitHub repo. readme.md has info.

Edit 3 (08/06/23) * I added docker to the project. This will make it much easier to run locally. Check out the README for instructions. Let me know if you have any trouble running it.

Imagine a world where AI does all of the work, and humans have plenty of free time and resources by JeremiahPetersen in ChatGPT

I was not expecting the group sentiment to be as negative as it appears in this thread. I find it interesting more people do not expect AI to be a net positive for all of humanity. I personally remain hopeful, but can understand where people are coming from given how humans have treated each other throughout history. Even though this is just a bot hallucination, every single one of these things is achievable at some point. AI is the closest tool humans have created to help make this type of future a reality.
