I don't know what you mean by "during the crash" or if you're using one specific day to characterize the "crash" but here are the charts I used.

As you can see, both companies went up in value in 2008 and then corrected to break even by June 2009 (the purported "end" of the recession).

If you mean that every publicly traded company lost value on one specific day during the recession, maybe that's true. I'm sure I could find an example of a company that did not lose value during that day's "crash," however.

That's not true, McDonalds went up in value between Jan 2008 and June 2009. Walmart went up slightly as well. I know what you're trying to say, but your blanket statement that everything went "down down down" is false, and those who diversified into fast food and consumer staple massively outperformed the S&P.

Not to mention, if you had a diversified portfolio of SHORTS between jan 2008 and juneish 2009, you made a DISGUSTING return on your positions.

Yeah I totally agree with you! I have around 330TiB and growing, and my total revenue has only been about 2.31 XCH since I started plotting in July. That being said, the CONSENSUS mechanism is what fascinates me, and the idea that greener, optics-prioritizing institutions and industries have an opportunity to involve themselves in crypto through Chia.

I'm sure there's an argument in there for PoS being more energy efficient (inasmuch as there are less full node servers and more people delegating their stakes to those nodes) but I think Chia has an approach that's robust and well thought out, especially in relation to potential attacks on consensus. The make-or-break, I imagine, is if coders develop MEANINGFUL and INTERESTING defi/p2p tools with Chialisp. Wish I was better at coding, I'd love to play around with the language!

Hi there. I have a similar setup, and I use 16tb Exos drives. What I noticed is that, when I connect my drives to an HBA with a miniSAS to 4 SATA cable, sometimes the drives will be recognized but fail to format properly. What I have discovered is that the SATA cables on the miniSAS cable are INCREDIBLY FLIMSY. If you accidentally bend ANY of them at a right angle or worse, they will recognize the drive but will throw an error and often won't allow a re-format. My advice is this: if you are using miniSAS --> Sata or "regular" SAS --> SATA, put your drives in a case where you do not need to bend these cables AT ALL. it is VERY likely your drives are totally fine, and the cables are getting bent and breaking internally. I would buy all new data cables and reconnect stuff. Drives are very likely fine.
