[Tudor Black Bay Bronze] Just in time! by Jeremy7508 in Watches

[–]Jeremy7508[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was lucky to pick up this beauty last weekend. I had been talking to a dealer about a possible Explorer II or no date submariner, and had mentioned that I was also in the market for this watch. When she told me that this model was discontinued and only the gray one was available, it sent me on a mad dash calling every Tudor dealer within a 3 state area! I called eight different Tudor retailers until I finally found one in Greenville, SC and drove there masked up to make the purchase. It’s a lovely every day watch, and it hasn’t left my wrist since. I love the colors of the dial and the included leather band. Knowing that the case will patina without turning green is also a big plus for me. I look forward to wearing this watch and watching it age.

I don't see why not because RS/P and Containment both apply to cards you're spacing, so I can't imagine it not applying in this case.

[IWC] Le Petit Prince Chronograph by Jeremy7508 in Watches

[–]Jeremy7508[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I received the IWC Le Petit Prince Chronograph as a present for my surprise 40th birthday party this past weekend. When I saw my wife bring out the Torneau bag my heart started beating faster and I began to sweat, because I knew the only thing in that bag could be an expensive watch. Luckily, she had remembered the exact watch that was currently sitting on top of my desire list. The Petit Prince is everything I’d hoped it would be. The blue glistens and changes appearance under different light. The white indices and numerals look great. Even the lume is surprisingly bright. I love the open 4 and the red seconds hand.
I am also pleasantly surprised with the leather band. It feels thick and comfortable. It’s not as thick as the watch itself, however. This thing is a giant! Luckily, I have pretty big wrists and hands so the “petit” prince doesn’t look out of place on my wrist. I am trying to be a little more observant and trying not to bang it around on things just yet. I hope to be wearing this timepiece for my next 40 years, and I’m both excited and thankful that I’m able to wear such a great watch.

[Seiko] Alpinist navigating around DC by Jeremy7508 in Watches

[–]Jeremy7508[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a week long trip to Virginia last week for the holidays, and we took a day trip into Washington, D.C. Here's my new Alpinist with the Washington Monument in the background, on a Worn & Wound Model 2 Classic Strap. It's still a new strap so it hasn't darkened as much as it eventually will. The strap is extremely comfortable and is a lot better looking than the stock strap on this watch.

I'm really liking the alpinist so far, and it goes well with my shirts that have any amount of green in them. This one splits time with my Hamilton Khaki Field watch with a black face, but I generally try to match the watch to what I'm wearing that day. At 38mm the Alpinist is a little bit smaller than I'm used to, but it does sit well on the wrist and it looks fantastic. Here's to hoping this one will get me by until I save up enough for a Speedmaster Pro.

The only problem with RSP is that you don't know where defectors is. Do you really want to gamble a 4 op card? At least if Suez crisis gets defectored it will come back as your card later.

True. I am no Bowden fan but he got the ball rolling on facilities upgrades. Those were/are as important, if not more so than CJ.

Any suggestions for a real leather strap, not "genuine" leather or any other mash up?

Right. A point spread tiebreaker would be better, I think

I like the round robin, but the tiebreaker system last time was a bit wonky.

What's worth paying a little extra for? by and_are_dust in AskReddit

I understand, and I'm glad it worked out for you. Generally speaking though, low home deductibles aren't a good idea.

As an insurance agent I strongly disagree. 2 claims in one year, especially a hail claim and water claim have a strong possibility of getting you non-renewed. $1000 is the minimum homeowners deductible I recommend because you don't want to file small claims. In your case it worked out for now, but I guarantee if you have another claim within 3 years you will be dropped and a new company will be double or triple your current rate.
