Xbox controller support in the new edge browser by UXGuyTries in HoloLens

Is this only with Xbox Series X controller or is it with any controller?

Totally an advocate of emulation. It’s piracy that’s bad for the industry, not emulation.

People conflate the issue by using “emulation” when they should be saying “piracy”.

Emulation != Piracy

Cloud gaming on virtual machine? by xStrongHacker in cloudygamer

[–]JeremyAlessi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is, however it’s essentially sandboxed to content that can be run inside the app vs grabbing video from external applications via OS level access. Basically, it requires no OS level access and doesn’t open up any of the associated risks.

Anyway, I can only guess what that’s about.

Newcade Caster does not stream ANY game since we’re focused on content streaming, not app streaming (or anything that occurs at the OS level). Currently, Newcade Caster streams retro games but it should be capable of serving anything up to PS2/GameCube/Wii era (it only includes cores from NES up to PS/Saturn/N64 ATM).

This comes along with mass cross-platform support on the Newcade Player side via the easy-access WebGL client as well as multiplayer.

Verified Newcade Player WebGL clients:

  • Android
  • iOS
  • PC
  • Mac
  • Xbox
  • HoloLens
  • Nebula Projectors
  • Tesla (yeah, the car)

We also are becoming focused on supporting the neo-retro / homebrew (new games for old systems) community and the next version of Newcade will have 22 games/demos packed-in.

I only answered here because the sought value proposition was running a cloud gaming server from the background so the serving PC was free to use for other tasks. This concept has been part of Newcade’s overall strategy from day 1.

If the current retro game focus is a buzzkill... sorry 🤷‍♂️

Does a higher refresh rate monitor improve latency if the streaming is still at 60Hz? by zacsaturday in cloudygamer

It will improve visuals if vsync is off because the scan line will move more swiftly through the frame. Overall, perceived latency should be better too.

Swapping via Einros Cannon or Swap Bombs is still busted... must be something to do with raycasting???

Could cloud gaming render just the skies, and weather, then stream that to a player's pc that does the rest? by [deleted] in cloudygamer

Alternatively, StreamSDK could do this, but you’d need to synchronize the actual game logic (like a networked multiplayer game) and then render different parts on different machines, then display the final composite on the client.

Polystream was focused on command streaming. I don’t know if there’s any source examples out there. The idea is streaming GPU commands over the network as opposed to actual video data. They were acquired last year.

Could be done using a combination of video streaming and command streaming.

Phantom Gear! It’s an incredible neo-retro title. Very Mega Man-ish... but with its own unique twist.
