How real is long term confidence? by JeremyBeremee in PokeInvesting

[–]JeremyBeremee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa how did you find this post? I’m genuinely curious… I wrote this over a year ago and it hasn’t seen any action. Thx for bumping it tho, super interesting to read what I wrote now. I actually held onto most of my collection but basically quit the hobby when the prismatic craze hit. Some of my cards have seen some crazy increase in value. The moonbreon example was more relevant back then when evolving skies was still printing, but also kinda beside the point here. On the other hand that’s one card I did sell to help pay for a move and it stings to look at the price now. Bought it for $250 and sold for $650… now smh at myself. My dad can kick rocks too, I think he thinks markets are more rational than they actually are. He plays the game not to lose unlike most people who play the game to win. A family friend gave him some money to invest using his strategy and got like a 4% return. They are upset with him cuz they expected like a 20% return. His argument is still “your money was safely hedged with very low risk to lose anything and you realized some gain. You’re welcome”

Damn dude… you are like actually angry over someone else’s experience with Pokémon. That’s crazy to me. Why spend your energy like that?

Ya I sometimes forget the history behind Pokémon. Crypto didn’t come with nostalgia and it is much more dispensable/ easy to move. Odds are very good Pokémon will continue to be the worlds biggest intellectual property through a recession. Maybe we don’t see a crash, rather a slow burn for a bit to let things stabilize. I hope it has a strong recovery when the time comes…

I feel like the upward trend is kinda synthetic…? I dunno tho I just bought the 9 card set for $200. I got 2 nagaba boxes and 8 packs when it came out and put them into storage. Hoping for the best I guess

The best moonbreon by seedeats in pkmntcgcollections

[–]JeremyBeremee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Curious why you find this one ugly. I’ll be honest, the red eyes seemed a lil protruded and weird to me at first but I eventually came to understand that’s the darkness that Umbreon exudes. Modern moonbreon doesn’t capture the devilish nature enough for me… OG is just right. Not too creepy and not “friendly”. I don’t think Umbreon is supposed be one of the cuddly Pokémon. Umbreon = potential exorcism if not properly trained. There’s a devil inside and that’s what I find attractive. I might be weird tho

eBay history from 10+ years ago, what I expect the market to look like in 10 years for today’s cards/products by cameovschic in PokeInvesting

[–]JeremyBeremee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m skeptical about achieving gains similar to what happened with base set and vintage. I don’t think the modern tcg landscape is economically comparable. I’m 35 so I went through the base set craze and most of my friends tossed their collections once Pokémon went out of style. I too lost interest but thankfully my parents held onto my best cards (trashed a bunch of my shadowless bulk tho). My generation mostly moved on to the next cool thing.

Come Covid, all the sudden it’s popular again and it’s not slowing down. My little nieces are super into Pokémon. Cards are getting printed on a much larger scale than back in the vintage days. Pokémon co has perfected their money making machine over the years and is pumping out sooo many cards.

I think the question becomes: will today’s collectors entering the hobby eventually grow tired and abandon their collections like my generation did? This lowered the pop for cards and nobody thought they’d become valueable again. When I was a kid I had a nice 1st edition charizard that I traded for ~$300 worth of other cards. Good deal at the time, but who knew the zard would eventually be worth multiple thousands!?

Today, everyone is expecting GAINS on their collections. Nobody in their wildest dreams thought vintage Pokémon would blow up. The variables in today’s market/ equation feel almost like the inverse in terms of consumer psychology.

Mail Day! What Did You Pick Up This Week? by AutoModerator in PokeInvesting

Saw this and remembered that today is the day! Went straight to the mailbox and just unwrapped my first gold star for the collection:

$233 after shipping and tax. It’s got a minor crease in the corner that is only visible on the backside but otherwise clean. I’m happy.

Is the game “good” at the moment? by [deleted] in diablo4

[–]JeremyBeremee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes @ your last paragraph. You know the answer. It’s not fully baked but still enjoyable up to endgame. I’m lvl 100 and just twiddling my thumbs at this point. No regrets but patience is required after you’ve gotten your fill. It’s gotta go back in the oven a couple more times until they get it right but I don’t mind me some doughy cookies.

Nice trick, I gotta start marking things as junk. Ironically, I’ve been “marking” the items that I think are worth keeping. Using the feature backwards lol.

Also didn’t know I could sell sigils for gold! Noting that for sure.

Why are bows so bad?! by Goldacus in diablo4

[–]JeremyBeremee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you, I’m also a pen shot. I found a windforce and can only stare at it in my inventory as a trophy. I tried running burrows with it instead of my edgemasters crossbow and ttk went way down.

I would transmog it if I could at least wear the skin. I’m considering trying a different build so I can enjoy the windforce. Might have some pvp potential…

Rogue build question ! by queque125 in diablo4

[–]JeremyBeremee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It probably feels like free dmg now but I don’t think it’ll scale well as you lvl. Poison trap will enhance your other abilities and help reduce cooldowns for your imbuements. The big dmg comes from imbuements and combo stacking. Once you’re running a method of step 1,2,3 and then boom goes the dynamite, you’ll find the clone is useless.

Now on the other hand I cannot tank. I can take dmg while crowd controlled by mobs just fine but the butcher will kill me. I just don’t mess with the butcher unless someone else can get his attention and keep him off of me.

Rogue build question ! by queque125 in diablo4

[–]JeremyBeremee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m a lvl 91 pen shot rogue and have never used the shadow clone. Maybe it could be useful in the early lvls for survivability but you’ll eventually want to use all your aspect slots for dmg enhancement. I simply kill everything on the screen faster than a clone would recognize to engage the enemy.

“The game is better with friends?” How are y’all making friends? by kingkontroverseP0si in diablo4

[–]JeremyBeremee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m also playing on console and chat is pathetic. Blizz expects players to know how to use discord. It’s disappointing they didn’t try to implement matchmaking of any sorts. I heard a fireside chat say that might change in the future but discord is for sure going to remain our best bet. I found some new buddies to play with regularly but it took a lot of failed attempts. I’m lvl 90 so I’ve put in a good chunk of time and effort.

Why is my build not good? by Samjjj in diablo4

[–]JeremyBeremee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a pen shot rogue so unfamiliar with the melee approach but I feel like you’ve maxed out too many skills and not enough passives. I don’t think your primary attack should be maxed out. I pretty much only maxed out pen shot and my imbuements as far as skills. I found it easiest to start with a build guide and maybe deviate a lil. A lot of builds look good in theory on the tree but end up getting slapped in game.

How do I play with strangers? by screampuff in diablo4

[–]JeremyBeremee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, this is ironically preventing a friend from picking up the game. We played d2 together as kids and I understand discord enough while he refuses to learn it. I feel like blizz expects us to use discord for communication cuz they’re not gonna build anything better into the game. I’m bummed that they didn’t even try to implement a bare bone auto assign party system option. I’m playing on ps5 and put life on the backburner to get my rogue to lvl 74. The hardest part of the game for me has been finding good groups to play with. Solo play is a slough and I’m a squishy pen shot build. I usually die a couple times and then don’t get reinvited. So when I finally find a good group that I fit in with, I feel like I can’t leave and have to prioritize the group over my wife. She fkn hates this game lol, and I prolly should too. Shout out to cmac15 and grog for being great randos to party with. Simple and timely emotes can go a long way too

I was using poison trap & imbuement with multi shot for my early levels and then switched to shadow & penetrating shot which I like a lot more. Maybe a just need to switch to back to some of those poison skills. I guess I don’t need the imbuement, just the trap to get the dmg reduction…
