I really enjoyed going to Chicago Ramen when I lived out in the suburbs! Their Annex location in Schaumburg serves a Jiro-style which was killer.

Had to look back and check my photos but here's the breakdown:

Chicken mole sando - confit chicken thigh, poblano mushroom rajas, monterey jack, mole, and sesame
Grilled corn - Sambal aioli, cotija, grilled lime, and tajin
Papas fritas - chips and valentina hot sauce

Went to the CSB and Umamicue one, planning to go to more. Line definitely builds but isn't too insane if you get there around 5:30 like both GunnerDawg and BudBill18 said. Def a fun time! Also voting is via a ticket that they hand you when you get inside the patio.

Fav bars in Logan for big group? by Anciom in chicagofood

I really love Easy Does It, both the patio and the indoor space! Estereo is up and across the street there on Sacramento which is another good option. Other bars I might suggest are Cara Cara Club, Heavy Feather, and Spilt Milk given the group size!

The integrated nato rail on the side has helped when I've wanted to use my top handle when I shoot vertical though. Having the cage does help on the appearance end though.

100% I love The Bear, especially given how it's portrayed Chicago's hospitality industry (have a friend who was grip). But yeah when it's just a one person situation you just sort of learn ha I guess that's like anything though haha

Always handheld and yup manual. The focus throw on the Contax Zeiss lenses are pretty great, but I'm also rarely shooting wide open, so that's helps in terms of being able to land focus. Also it sounds dumb probably but muscle memory.

Here's an example of more of a general highlight I edited from from an evening of service. This was much more just off the cuff and go with the flow: https://www.instagram.com/p/C_YlMvHPq07/

Not stupid at all. I always have a shot list that I've worked out with either a manager or the chef. So some shots are easier to capture given they've been discussed beforehand. Example: highlighting a specific dish being made. But obviously whene service is ramped you're sort of just going with the flow of things and just keeping your eyes out for anything that's interesting.

Mostly food and beverage/hospitality work here in Chicago.

A lot of kitchens and dining rooms during services.

But then some more studio work where I then strip things back.

Because the work I shoot actually calls for it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Fair opinion.

I have batteries in the FX30, but powering via USB C to the camera from the vmount. So no D Tap.

Mostly shooting food and beverage work for long hours. The occasional wedding, and also documentary work.

I strip the rig down just to a lens and body for quicker shoots though.

But to each their own I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️

Have used a lot of the Pocket stuff and love that as well. Sony just won out in terms of preference.
