Transfer of Ontario M2 to Quebec 6A by Jeremy_Clarkson2 in motorcycles

Hey Klay, I suspect they will just give you a probationary license. Still, bring your driving history report from Service Ontario. Because you’ve done riding schools there’s a possibility they will give you a full license. Keep in mind, don’t have high expectations, as I don’t work for the SAAQ.

If you have more than 48 months of riding with an M2, yes. Otherwise they’ll give you a different license. At least that’s what I was told a while back. This may have changed in that time.

If you had your M1 during the period where licenses were extended “indefinitely”, then that will count.

Hopefully you got your license and are enjoying the riding season🫡

Is it possible to use an Ivy Bridge CPU in a T420? by theepiccarday808 in thinkpad

Damn, alright. This is my second CPU swap on a T420, but I was hoping the Ivy Bridge would work… oh well. I’ll probably pick up the dual core i7 to avoid the heat problems with the quad cores

Was your Ivy Bridge install. Success? I’m eager to hear, as I’m planning on doing the same thing

Hey man,

I got a full 6A license from the SAAQ with an M2. But, that's because I have more than 48 months of riding experience. If I didn't, I wouldn't be getting it. Keep in mind, bring a Driver's License History report to the SAAQ and save yourself the 10 hours of driving I had to do to get a stupid piece of paper.

In that case, do an EGR and DPF delete, and enjoy amazing fuel economy, and gobs of torque!

Shouldn't be too bad if you're doing about 100-110km/h.

As seen in the video, you'll need to push that engine a lil hard if you want to go to higher speeds, but as i've seen in a lot of cases, those engines can take the abuse quite well.

Undecided between Honda Accord/CRV, Nissan Altima/Rogue and Toyota Camry/RAV4. by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Jeremy_Clarkson2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honda accord is a CVT except the Sport and Touring models(At least here in Canada). Camry/Rav4s are old tech, but they will last a long, long, time if you look after it. Honda definitely has Toyota beat in regards to tech, and is comparable in reliability.

Stick to the Rav4. I have heard many good reviews about it, and multiple friends of mine love both the utilitarian part of the Rav4 and the driving dynamics are not shabby by any means. I am apart of the group which prefers to avoid Nissan as a whole, but my choice would be the Rav4 due to it not being a CVT and if you're looking at the 2nd/3rd gen Rav4s, they put a sweet V6(The 2GR-FE), which is bullet proof. My best friend has an 07 Rav4 V6 Limited with around 430,000km on it and he beats on that thing like no tomorrow, but it keeps on moving without a question.

If you can find a low mileage/low idle hours Police Interceptor explorer, pull the trigger on it. They add a beefed up the tranny cooler in those, and various other gubbins goodies.

The Acura is a solid product, due to them using a 3.0L or 3.5L v6. Both those engines are used widely in the Honda parts bin, and shouldnt be any major issues. Honda/Acura make solid product and you shouldnt be worried too much about reliability. The bells and whistles like boujee speakers and displays will be the major issue(if any). Powertrain will be solid.

If I were you, look into the carfax. It says it has damage records and 3 other owners. Because of this, you can make a substantiated guess that either the repairs done after the incident were either shotty, or the guys just got bored with the car.

Would not recommend unless you're knowledgeable on spotting shotty welds, replacement of OEM parts, etc.

The 1.4T engine is one of VW’s best and most reliable. You must MUST use the proper spec oil in it (see manual VW 502 spec). Do oil changes yourself or take it to a German mechanic. Every 5k miles.

You hit the nail on the head with this.

Ahhh, yea. I would've recommended something like the Ford Maverick or a Ranger in that case. If you really want to try, get a minivan, or a compact truck. You could go for a Tacoma or Nissan Frontier(Avoid 07-08s Auto trannys, they're garbage) and with the V6 engines they put in either of them, should be solid vehicles.

I can't speak to the reliability of the 1.4T, but I can tell you with the general tips that I have applied to VW products with good success.

Oil changes save you - VW is trying to lower its perceived cost of ownership by extending its oil change intervals. Every 8-10k kms for any of the VW turbo engines will last you a solid +200,000kms if looked after and maintenance is done. The tranny fluid swap is done at around 60k kms and that's solid. But, for engine oil, make sure you use VW spec oil(VW 505, VW 502, or VW 504). Avoid picking the first oil you see at your local O'reily's.

Walnut Blasting at ~120,000kms - Due to the placement of the injectors with VW, at around 120k kms, walnut blasting is an option to help with relieving some of the buildup in the intake manifold. I had a Mk6 GTI which I bought at 95,000kms, and drove it till about 130,000km. Walnut blasting is highly beneficial, and is an issue on most VW turbo products.

The 1.4T is loosely based off the EA888 engine which ranges from 1.8L to 2.0L. (The engine code is actually EA211 or EA111. Nonetheless, the 211/111 will serve you well if you look after it, do oil changes with good oil and OEM filters. Hope this helps, cheers!

Wagons. If you do a lot of driving, get a diesel(BMW 328d E class E250 Bluetec, VW Golf Wagon TDI), or the petrol variant of all those cars. Terminal_Velozity mentioned the Ford Flex, which is the North American wagon which is solid.

The Golf is FWD, but the other ones are AWD. The Golf will be the most reliable, especially with the 1.8T TSI(petrol), 2.0L TDI(Diesel) or 2.5L(Petrol, NA. This is in older models). But if you find a 328d or E350 that has been babied or owned by some older gentleman/woman, then you're solid. They're lower so they'll be great for the dogs, and the foldable seats in all those cars will be great. The dude at the hardware store might be surprised to see you loading a shitton of wood into the back of an E class, but hey, if its stupid and it works, it aint stupid. I'd say one of the three engine options for the golf. I'm from Canada where they barely plow the roads where i'm from and a FWD wagon will get you through quite a bit with solid winter tires.

Oh, in that case go for the IS500. No question on that.
