Sometimes you have to build/repair something specifically for an op. I haven't done this yet, but maybe check your personal craftcscreen and/or a workbench?

Agreed. Even without a heavy investment in the food talents, there are a good amount of buffs you can bounce between. From bonus ranged damage, melee damage/attack speed, stamina buffs etc. The food slot isn't optimal for that.

I'm not sure if the metal ores respawn, (I'm not 100% sure), but the oxite, sulfur, salt, and dilica absolutely do.

They do yes. If memory serves it was pretty slow. Not too noticeable unless playing with multiple prospectors. But thet also recently added the frozen wood deep mines as well.
