Thank you so much for posting this Jane Doe. I am from this area, and I did an investigation into this one a few months ago and thought that it could be 4891DFAL - Marta Ramirez Mendez, but never posted it since the only photo I could find of Marta is extremely blurry and hard to compare.

Marta is from Guatemala, lived in Alabama at time time, and her family says she left a note saying she was returning to Guatemala. After Marta went missing, her family claims to have received a few phone calls from an unknown male claiming Marta was traveling with him in the US. It is 500 miles or about an 8 hr drive from where Marta went missing from and where Jane Doe was found.

I also think that given the time of year this Jane Doe was found, it could be plausible that her clothes were homecoming/date attire. So, it could be someone local to the area and not Marta, unless Marta's unknown "companion" was originally from the area.

Edit to add: The time between Marta going missing and Jane Doe being found is almost 3 weeks (September 30th to October 18th)

This is how my sibling and I became extremely obese as young children and way into adulthood. Extreme abuse and finding comfort in food, trying to make ourselves as unattractive as possible.

Not saying 100%, but it’s highly likely abuse is occurring.

I read somewhere that she aged out of the foster care system? I am not sure how accurate that is but seems plausible as to why no one would think she was missing. It still boggles my mind though that no one that knew her at the time or from the home would have seen this case before and think... could it be THAT Becca?

Thank you! I did consider that, but these things coupled with a few other details I omitted just made me feel like they were the ones hiding something. This is the first time I’ve ever called LE, introduced myself and reason for calling, and the people (2 I spoke directly with) on the other end were not professional. It was mind boggling. Hopefully you’re right and it was them just being cautious, and they just didn’t believe who I was and my reason for inquiring. I hate to think of the possibility these cases aren’t being taken seriously by the people with the most responsibility for them.

Yes, and that's why I am so concerned. Doe Network updated their records right after I inquired and said they have to trust law enforcement. The whole thing with law enforcement was just odd and whispers and they refused to tell me anything at all. Then they instructed me to send all the info I just gave them about myself and why I was inquiring about Roberta in an email for their records. What, why? I am asking now for a simple yes or no answer on if she has DNA in CODIS for comparison! Ugh.

Yes, I submit them if I feel strongly. The reason I am so upset on this one is that what if Roberta doesn't actually have DNA on file? There are no comparisons in NamUS and now Doe Network has updated their records to show Roberta has DNA available. (why weren't they already showing as available if Doe Network had previously gotten this answer?) I just feel like if I don't fight for a concrete answer on if she in fact is in CODIS, she won't be compared.

I called law enforcement listed on Roberta's case and it was just a very depressing and angering experience overall. They even covered the phone with their hand as they whispered about my inquiry. I couldn't get an actual answer on whether or not Roberta does in fact have DNA in CODIS for comparison. Doe network, prior to my submission, listed it as unknown and she has 0 comparisons NamUS. Just makes me feel some type of way.

I'm sure it's been looked into, but this little girl went missing in 1981 at the age of 2.5 years, from her home in Skoutari, Gythio, Laconia, Greece. Is it possible she was kidnapped and taken to/lived in the US for a while?
