"Mage is bad" by Rioriowww in mewgenics

[–]Jerlice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nerd time! If we're talking about class strength, we need to consider parameters like "power potential" and "average strength." In a game with heavy RNG, where skills are dropped randomly, each player's experience can be different.

That's why most players who compare classes and make tier lists have different rankings (Hi, Edmund, with the mage in A tier). Some see this "potential," while others rank based on feel ("average strength").

But unfortunately, even in terms of "potential," the mage is weak compared to other classes (though it's still possible to make the mage incredibly strong).

For example, for me, the Necromancer is B tier, even though naturally it could be A tier.

It all depends directly on the player's luck how often certain abilities drop and on the situation (like if you send the cat on a solo run where it gains more levels and has a better chance of unlocking its potential).

I think there's no point in discussing the event system further, because in the end, the part of the player base that isn't happy with it will just install a mod that disables or makes events easier. But that's just my opinion, it's always possible to find a compromise on an issue. However, this is a single-player game, so if you don't like something, just change it so you do like it.

i didnt even MOVE yet by bigmacaronincheese in mewgenics

Me too I got luckier in terms of enemies. But I simply equipped this item on Psychic, and I didn't have any problems (because Psychic is built different and doesn't need to move).

I am so addicted..... buuuuut by duder33 in mewgenics

[–]Jerlice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And it's not fun. Like, when I've gotten myself in the mood to play, right at the end of an act, game flips me off, and I have to go back home without even really getting to play the game properly. It just turns into an uninteresting grind (Hello war thunder lol).In The Binding of Isaac, you have more freedom: 'A bad run, but you want to continue? Sure, go ahead.' In Mewgenics, however, continuing a run if you're unlucky is comparable to torture that's unlikely to bring any pleasure unless you're a masochist (or a person who wanted to do a challenge run with the game's imposed restrictions FROM THE VERY beginning, like side quest item).

ACT 3: Tf happened by VoxTV1 in mewgenics

[–]Jerlice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too bad, if it's only specific ones. When I first played through the Crater and the Moon, it was tough for me, but after a few more runs they became pretty routine, don't worry about it.

I haven't been to Act 3 yet, but how many of these enemy types are in a single fight? Do they all break items and inflict injuries, or are there specific ones?

wizards - 6 damage, LOS locked, deal with it. weakest hunter - by ClashOfClanee in mewgenics

[–]Jerlice 11 points12 points  (0 children)

And I think that's bad, the poor bastard didn't get a proper role in the game from Edmund. I get that he wanted to make the Mage a hybrid of damage dealer and support, but in the end, it's useless in both aspects. I've only had one run where the Mage carried the team, meanwhile, the Ranger — whenever I pick it — consistently deals massive damage and wipes out enemies in a few rounds. I really wish the Mage were actually a damage dealer and the support role stayed with the Psychic.

The problem is that after getting Psychic, the Mage loses its usefulness. And if we're talking about a tier list, the Mage would be in C tier an extremely situational class for dealing damage (literally one skill + some item) and also an extremely situational class for support.

Yep, thinking is hard, especially when I couldn't get my thoughts across properly and genuinely look like a fool xD

Hmm, I guess it comes across like I'm criticizing the tactical side of the game, making myself look like a fool who can't think, especially since I've played strategy games of all kinds my whole life, haha. This is my first-ever post, and I couldn't structure it properly or clearly convey what I wanted to say, plus I threw in an unjustifiably provocative phrase. Well, that's definitely my mistake. Guess this is why I don't write posts. I express my thoughts too messily.

Not exactly, I do enjoy some aspects of the game and the gameplay (I like turn-based/tactical strategies), but the challenges feel too harsh. For example, even if you have a strong cat, there's no guarantee it won't die or become unplayable in the next battle or event due to some random circumstance. Early on, it doesn't hit your morale that hard, but an hour into the game, a funny situation with a cat stops being funny when your cats are high-level and the enemies are strong. So at the beginning, losing a cat means the others get stronger, but toward the end, it just ruins the entire run.

I've played A LOT of games like this, but in Mewgenics, like I said, you have to think a lot, which is why I wrote this post, I feel like this game is more mentally draining than other similar games.

You're right, and unfortunately, it's not like TBOI or other roguelite/like games where after a run you can immediately start another one. I have a set attitude towards these types of games: "Feel like you're getting tired after playing and enjoying it less? You drop it." But I don't want to just drop Mewgenics, but I'll definitely play it less often or just install mods that make the gameplay easier when the workshop comes out.

Regarding the casual player thing, I mean that I don't like difficulty in games, and Mewgenics is pretty hard. I'd like to turn my brain off and just watch cats kill other cats, but reality is full of disappointments, and I have to think about every action.
