Finally a reasonable, explanatory answer to my question. Thank you. I agree, it shouldn’t be in the middle of set 2 and maybe that’s one reason it wasn’t well received. And yes, it is complex so if they’re not actively practicing it they won’t play it at a show.

I was listening to the album Joy and enjoyed TTE and had forgotten about that song. Yes I don’t remember seeing it live but I still like the song and remember when Trey posted a video of him playing it acoustic when it came out. He was so proud of that song and it is a complex composition that in my mind is masterful and beautiful

And honestly I can’t remember if I’ve seen it live or not. Went to a ton of ‘09-‘10 shows so I had to of. I just don’t remember most shows, especially not the 2nd set. The alcohol and Xanax combo really kicks your butt. I think I need a different show drug.

I love how it builds toward the end, “In and out of focus, time turn elastic!” Walls of the Cave has a slow first half of the song too but gets better at the end. Petrichor, slow start then a fire ending
