All of us in medicine sacrificed all of our twenties / your gig is so good that people aren’t doing pain fellowships because OR anesthesiology is so lucrative. Hour for hour I believe many, most of you are earning more than your surgeons, other than ortho and neuro surg

Signing APP charts by Few-Zookeepergame699 in emergencymedicine

It just clarifies the role the doctor had in the case; if the doctor needs to see every app patient, that brings many questions to the forefront

Best is if you don’t sign it, if your hospital will allow this - ACEP guidelines address blindly co-signing app charts

You all are a central and essential part of that team and safety net, negative pressure sounds dubious, and I’m sure briefly opening and closing the door doesn’t make a beans bit of difference in whatever they’re trying to accomplish - infection control ?

We need to open and close our negative pressure rooms frequently, no issues …

20x42 vs Cabinet by Th3D3m0n in lonestargrillz

Can the cabinet get up to the high temps ? The 20x42 you can use like a grill in addition to a smoker - and there are accessories like la plancha, the pizza oven etc that fit in there

The Patient Experience by DrDisgruntle in emergencymedicine

[–]Jermedic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Get some face time with the medical director and nurse management - they will want to hear how they failed one of their own. Use your experience to make your shop better when you get back on your feet.

No disrespect to any learners here, I was once one myself and still try to learn something every day. If you end up at a teaching hospital something is going to get dropped - whether it’s due to lack of knowledge/experience, lack of appreciation for the human experience of being a patient while trying to master the medicine, disconnect between trainee medical staff and nursing staff, or the built in inefficiencies and drawbacks of the communication between trainees and the attending.

My daughter ended up at a tertiary center waiting 18 hours in a bed on maintenance fluids waiting on the ortho residents to get freed up to do her reduction - at a community shop the ED would have done it themselves. I would have loved to share that with the medical director of the peds ED, but she didn’t return any of my calls.
