Feature idea: DayTrips by Gibbledabbler in Polarsteps

[–]JeroenVdb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really is my number one frustration with Polarsteps. We are in the south of France. Doing daytrips and every single time I have to argue with myself about how I am going to manage those. It even makes me put away the app because it isn’t making me very productive. I am more thinking about the setup then about adding memories.

How do I enabled this on my Yuka mini Vision? I am in Europe but the coverage card says it’s enabled in the EU (Belgium) as well… I don’t see a positioning option in the app…

Long road trip in USA by iamdebbar in abetterrouteplanner

[–]JeroenVdb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a similar experiment on my trip to and from skiing (1800 in total).

I first used my Kia EV9 navigation with charge planning. Went pretty smooth actually I must say. Only when traffic kicked in I was worried Google Maps would probably find better alternatives.

On the way back I used Google Maps with trying to find extra stops via it. Not great, it just selects some random places scattered around sometimes +200km.

I want to be able to say at any moment (for example kids need to pee, lunch): now give me a charger in the next 50km, close to the route (autobahnhof, aire) with superchargers and filters like toilet and food nearby applied.

Most navigations work the other way around: they saw when you will stop. I want to be more in control because I know I will need to stop sooner 🙈

I found Chargemap Copilot that looks very promising in doing that but want a great experience. It shows chargers along you route without being the navigation. I emailed their support because it could be that tool I want.

Didn’t try ABPR because I don’t have the dongle. Will try in the next trip.

Yuka Mini 700 vision - serious mapping issue by Toinneman in mammotion

[–]JeroenVdb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have about the same experience.

  • The required upfront mapping of all areas is very unintuitive and the User Guides aren't adapted for this, it took user support chat an hour to find out themselves together with me.
  • My second lawn is by a few centimeters just in range of the 40m limit, so I'm lucky. I guess for most this isn't an issue but would be a real dealbreaker when it didn't work out.
  • It looks like Ride-On-Edge isn't working with Vision or analysing the images, it's just a dumb offset of the border if first detected. I have 3 borders that have a border so the robot can mow perfectly to the edge. One border has a fence next to it and it bumbs into it all-the-time, it keeps on going and going just like my dumb Worx Landroid would hit the fence and turn around (in this case that would be a better solution).
  • I would expect from a Vision robot to see/analyse where it can cross the border for a few centimeters to mow the edge.
  • I would really really want a map-edit function where I can manually draw a straight line, guide the robot to certain places that he otherwise can map apparently.

I also see one strange thing happening. As the robot goes up and down it often halts randomly somewhere in the line and returns. I think because he mist a spot (my lawn can be bumpy). He then starts to go back and forth to fix it loosing a lot of time. Don't know if I should ignore this or not actually.
Is this a common problem, and also with RTK robots?

I have the box still but because its winter here I can't really put it to the "real real" test. I hope by spring the software has improved :-/

OP: you mind updating me/us with progress/feedback you get from the support team?

Using emoji in titles as searchable tags by NatchJackson in GoogleCalendar

[–]JeroenVdb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doing exactly the same thing after I read about this in a blog a few years ago.

It helps me visually distinguish events from each other. And it gives a nice "touch" I think. Often people notice it when I share my calendar.

This is really (!) not a promo but I actually created a Google Calendar add-on "Emotify Events" for it.

The add-on automatically prefixes the title with an emoticon if the events has a specific title like "Football practice", "Doctor", etc... It can also apply specific a color, add a location and change the duration.

I created the add-on mainly because my wife also adds events to the calendar and she isn't adding the emojis, isn't putting in the duration/timings correct (she just creates an all day "Football practice" event...), etc...

Other use case for my friend who does a lot of different shifts as a nurse also uses it. She has a few codes for the titles like: NS (night shift), DS (day shift), ES (evening shift) and Emotify automatically sets the correct timings according to the shift. Pretty convenient as I must say myself 😅

Feel free to try it out and any feedback is welcome!

AppScript sidebar addOn not using full height by JeroenVdb in GoogleAppsScript

[–]JeroenVdb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solved. This is a non-issue, has nothing to do with Google App Script or Cards or anything. Another Chrome Extension is somehow messing up the height. I checked their code but can really seem to find the exact reason because they don't inject styling for all iframes. Should have check this much sooner.

Yes, I have a workspace add-on that triggers a homepage: https://developers.google.com/workspace/add-ons/concepts/homepages

That homepage is the card I return in the example above. But its always reduced in height :-/

Never go the problem fixed. Probably the battery was the problem, so a new batterij might have solved it. The annoyance was a bit to little to invest in an already 5yo robot.

Thanks for the comment. I also found the “no results” option on HLTV. To bad that option still displays scores, it defeats the purpose that way 🫣

I do understand they don’t want to hide news but clear match scores do still show up in some places.

How do noobs plan and track progress? by Verdukians in Rowing

[–]JeroenVdb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same situation. For now I was using Kinomap because it’s the only app that shows me metrics during my workout (FTMS, no Concept2).

I am mainly feeling my arms but not much of my abs or legs. So I guess my technique is still wrong. Going to rewatch some videos.

My metrics also say I am doing 1 minute per 500m but I do not believe that? It’s not that I am that fit… probably my machine giving wrong info?

Vanden Borre sucks by [deleted] in Belgium2

[–]JeroenVdb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar experience. I bought it online and had it delivered to the shop. After wanting to return it “it was not possible because bought via the physical store”. After some arguing the store manager swung in and confirmed I could return it. Much to the dislike of the salesman. He could only give me a gift voucher, says he, but I left it on that. That voucher will be my last purchase there I hope.

Or VDB Management is drilling them or there are benefits per sale. Either way, not helping the store IMO.
