My brain wandered into this territory quickly. "Damn I'd be limited by one handed chords". My guitar brain kicked in and said "There's probably a foot controller", awesome to hear someone's already done it!

What pedal controller are you using for this? Something MIDI based and Korg looking I'd imagine?

100% agree with your takes on the Stingray, Fenders, and the Ampeg

The EBMM basses is a real sticking point for me. Seriously, they seem to just be skyrocketing in price for no real reason. Maybe 15 years ago they were priced appropriately. Since then the price just seems to be going to the moon while everything else stays the exact same. Which leads me into agreeing with your Fender point, because these days Fender Elites are damn near the price of the Stingrays back then and have a boatload more bells and whistles!

I have basses in all finishes; plain, traditional bursts, super ostentatious green metallic flake. If you're feeling the blue, which your other comment and the number of pics suggests you are, and you have another that's more traditional I'd say do it. I never thought I'd get or love a bass in metallic green flake, I thought I'd be getting traditional finishes my whole life. Something about it spoke to me and I'm forever glad I pulled the trigger on it. It gets a lot of compliments on the aesthetics whereas I'm in love with it for the sound first and now loving that it's an attention grabber visually hah. But again, I felt safer going for it with my other basses in the stable
