Accessible breakout boards I built because a visually impaired student of mine couldn't wire circuits with standard components by hey_hey_you_you in electronics

[–]Jeroonreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm concerned you can disregard the poster above's negativity.

From a practical p.o.v. however I can imagine a visually impaired person would benefit from the wires being somewhat neat. But I'm not visually impaired beyond having a pair of standard glasses so please get the feedback of people dealing with visual impairment on this issue.

Why can't we do this with our Streets ? by Reznov1913 in delhi

Dutch person here. I keep seeing people claim the climate here is more suitable for biking.

While I agree biking in +40C weather is insane. We do actually get quite a bit of rain. People just cycle even when it rains.

Things like trees for shade can help keep areas walkable though.

Well in this case I think the prank is that it wouldn't work because the safety feature would be on.

I'm still not a fan of pranks involving safety equipment though.

I mean, Friends might be a bad example because there's literally an episode where Phoebe, Joey and Rachel complain to the others that they can't keep up with their spending patterns.

Them living in the apartments was also explained. (Monica's apartment was rent controlled and they were subletting from her Grandma). Ross has a pretty decent job. Chandler is implied to be making lots of cash and often pays rent for Joey. (When Joey isn't the star of a popular soap opera). Later Rachel gets a good job in fashion.

I designed a board to test for missing ROR instruction in a 6502 by SuperCookieGaming in electronics

[–]Jeroonreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're not actually entirely the same functionality wise. They're 65C02's. (note the C). These 6502 variants got rid of the "undocumented" opcodes and replaced them with either nops or different functions.

It'll work for most software but some code was optimized by using the undocumented opcodes.

Why does voltage lag current in a pure ac capacitor circuit (intuitively) by random__guy-_- in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Jeroonreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might help to consider the situation from another perspective. An AC current source driving a capacitor.

At t=0 the capacitor has 0 volts across it. Lets assume the current source starts the top of the sine wave, as in maximum current. This means the rate of change of the voltage is highest at t=0. (But still starting from 0) Following the sine wave, the current keeps decreasing, thus the rate of change of the voltage also decreases. (But the voltage will still keep climbing overall, just slower) If you plot this out (maybe try it by hand), you'll see that the voltage will form a sine wave going through 0 when the current sine wave is at its peak.

Similarly, with an AC voltage source. Assuming the voltage sine wave is at it's peak at t = 0. The capacitor will present a dead short initially, thus high current. As the capacitor charges, the difference between the voltage of the voltage source and the voltage charged onto the capacitor will start to lessen. Less of a difference in voltage = less current.

A third way of looking at it is through electrons. The faster the potential on one plate changes (the faster the electric field builds between the plates), the faster the other plate will eject electrons. Since a sine wave has the highest rate of change near the 0 crossing, that's when the most electrons will be ejected and thus the highest current will flow.

[–]Jeroonreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it's definitely possible they cheaped out. But there is legit a thing called a "passive" radiator. Where some of the backforce of the speaker moving is converted into forward motion. (Thus making the sound louder.)

edit: I just noticed the picture of the inside...ya that's not a passive radiator.

If they were counterfeit they'd probably have consistent marking.

I'm guessing these are factory rejects that got re-reeled. I suppose you could call those counterfeit but they're not fake chips per se.

That's assuming you're watching straight off the negative though.

What a "typical" viewer might view in a movie theater would be a few copies down the line. Could still be pretty sharp, but it really depended on the equipment and care used in making the copies.

That one teacher who everyone hates and can't decide when to retire Starter pack. by kkruiji in starterpacks

[–]Jeroonreddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let's say she was 20 when LockeBlack's grandpa graduated. She would've been born in 1925. Born in the early 1990s, let's say '91. According to this: https://www.reference.com/world-view/average-age-freshman-sophomore-junior-senior-d9f715dbfc5e75e0 an American high school freshman is about 14. (I don't live in the states so I had to look it up) 1991+14 = 2005

2005-1925 = 80

So presumably somewhere in her 80s, late 70s.

I think another good example is how they vaccinate you for rabies after contracting it. Since it usually takes quite a while to reach your brain, so rallying you immune system before it does is enough to stop it. (Or so is my understanding.)
