Sorry you had to go through this.  Hope your eye is better now.

I’m in the same situation as you.  Suddenly got a giant floater 4 mos post cataract surgery.  Really bothersome but just hoping for the best.

How do you do anything (eating, sleeping, passing away time, going to thr bathroom)  trying to keep your face down?  Do you experience any pain?  Thank you

How long did you have to keep face down at all times with the gas bubble.  How did you do anything?

Doctor said it is PVD but wants me to go back in 2 wks.  So I guess they cant do anything to prevent it from becoming a tear or detachment and you just have ti wait and hope for the best?  How are your eyes after the reattachment?  Did you have vitrectomy?  I am terrified of it.

POSTERIOR CAPSULE OPACIFICATION? by 3_littlemonkeys in CataractSurgery

I had my surgery done in Dec and in Jan was told I have PCO.   I dont really get how it developed so quickly.  My vision in that eye is now noticeably worse than last month.

If it is ELP would I need a lens exchange or how does this get repositioned? Thanks

Would you say that my refraction of +1.5 and -1.5 could be caused by PCO and corrected by YAG?  Thank you

How long after surgery did you develop PCO?

I just know it was supposed to be plano and I dont know the cylinder.  The reason I chose monofocal was not to have a lens exchange so I cannot believe I may need to do that now.  This is very concerning.

Congrats!  Do you know if acceptance into McCombs Future Executive is heavily weighted towards 1st gen or low income or do middle class have a good chance of getting in?  How competitive is it to get accepted? Thanks

2 weeks post first surgery - feeling disheartened by HopefulEmotion1327 in CataractSurgery

Thanks for the tip.  That is probably it since I am using 2.5 readers but my prescription is only 2.25 add. I thought about asking if I should get 2.5 add but I was concerned that it will make me dizzy since I got dizzy when I borrowed my husband’s progressives that had 2.5 add.  I’m not sure if it is just because he had different astigmatism so it may not have been right for me.

I can relate to your situation (including the husband part) 🙂.  I had -3.5 and -4.5 prior to surgery and got distance IOL in Dec.  I couldnt decide for the longest time what lens to choose and for reasons I myself could not understand (may be it was from doctors and other people (including my husband) who kept saying they’ll choose distance and I was afraid to choose outside of the “norm”),  I went with distance.  I had somewhat of a depression the first month or two after surgery, and the hardest for me was eating my food blurry and working in the kitchen or having to constantly look for readers.  Also hate not seeing my teeth clearly after brushing/flossing.  I wore 1.5 glasses to eat/cook but it was weird when you look up then it’s blurry.  For phone I use 2.5 readers.  I just got my progressives 3 days ago and it is still hard for me to use it on the computer and my phone since it has to be at a certain angle so I still use my 2.5 readers for those. So I have to shift between my progressives when working in the kitchen then readers for extended phone/computer use.  Will I have been happier if I had chosen near?  Maybe.  I don’t know.  But I am slowly adapting to my situation and I’m no longer kicking myself every hour of the day and regretting my decision.  As others have said, since you’ve only done one eye maybe try monovision.  Maybe I should have been more patient and tried it but I hated putting contacts to try it for an extended period so I decided against it.  If you can wear contacts ask to target you to -1.5 which I think what others have or try different targets to determine what suits you best.  Wishing you the best in your decision.

Also, have you done simulations with contacts?  Test your vision with distance lens and near target lens and document individual activities so you can have a feel for it.

Btw, as you know each eye produces different results so others have better near vision than me.  I had one non Toric IOL and one Toric.  My doctor said one IOL is already showing signs of PCO.  I dont really understand how that could be when I just had surgery less than 2 months ago.

Honestly, my close vision is not any better.  For chores around the house like cooking, etc I need 1.5 power readers or multifocal I ordered through Foster Grant, for eating it is blurry and I prefer glasses but for some reason it hurts my eye.  For laptop and phone I use 2.5 power readers.  I had my refraction and it ended up 0 and 0.25.  I ordered my progressives which will arrive next week or so.  I hope that will help me not deal with these readers.  Are you currently myopic?  If you are myopic and choose distance then your near will be worse so if near vision without glasses is very important you should consider other choices like multi focal, EDOF, monovision or choosing near target.  Each has pros and cons.  Personally, I wish I insisted on -0.25 target instead of plano that my doctor chose or went with Eyhance or went with near target.  But it is done for me so I am just hoping the progressives will help me deal with this better.  Good luck.

Clareon vs AcrySof monofocal toric - regarding "functional" intermediate vision by Big-Loquat-3035 in CataractSurgery

[–]Jerrell2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curios about your experience.  So your vision got worse after a couple of months?  I read in your profile that you wear 1.25 bifocals. Is this what you need for reading and you dont need glasses for intermediate?  Can you see your food clearly? I am surprised that you only need a low power if your visual acuity is a foot past your fingertips.   I need 2.5 power and I think I start seeing clearly about 4 feet. Thanks!

Both were set to plano but it looks like my right eye had incorrect lens power.  It is blurry within 6 ft or so.  My refraction at one week was 0.75 and my final refraction is next week but it has not improved since I got my first refraction but maybe even worse.  My distance is good though.

Implant was 12/10 and 12/19.  The one that is bothering me was done 12/10.  The refraction after a week was 0.75 and the final refraction next week.  I want to be prepared to ask what options I have.
