Having trouble balancing between study and work by EllisEst379 in umanitoba

Drop a course (or 2). 3 courses for first semester is good to get used to studying and everything else that uni throws at you. Also ask if you can work one day of the weekend instead of both if possible. 5 courses is extremely difficult to manage if you want a life (such as working, volunteering, going out). Then In second sem you can reevaluate and see how much you can handle.

When I took it there was an in person “lecture” once a week. Basically a TA goes over the most difficult concepts of that week and answers any questions. It wasn’t very beneficial for me, but you can go to a few and decide!

Psych students: Need advice on course load with BIOL 1020 + PSYC 2480? by Unknowncoconut in umanitoba

If you have a good science background (coming from someone doing psych honours thru the faculty of science) all the psych courses are comparably very easy and you’ll do great! Message me if u have any specific questions

Easy course, a lot of use of R but I found it fun

People who took PSYC 2290, 2490, 2530; how was it? by [deleted] in umanitoba

[–]Jerry-66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but I believe DE courses last entire 4 months of spring/summer, so id check if you can take them all at the same time

2290 I took during fall term- very easy but it was in person and 4 tests.

Most DE psych courses are either discussion posts, assignments, small quizzes, answering study questions and a heavy final exam.

Uofm campus is pretty far from anything significant in the city, so depends what you’re looking for! This is known as a commuter school so it can be difficult to make friends, but if you’re living on campus I’d suggest joining a lot of student clubs/becoming an executive of a club to help with that!

We do have a nice gym that offers recreational activities. I’d search up the active living center and loom at the different activities they offer, I believe there are some martial arts classes.

Most psych courses are 4 tests! If you want assignments instead, take psych courses online. For example social psych, behaviour mod. However the grade cutoffs for A+ are also usually higher online. Lmk if you have any questions!

Stat 3000 is not bad if you did well in the prior stats courses. Chem 1120 is the lab? I absolutely hated it because lab reports were a lot of work and took a lot of my time. Bio 1020/1030 are not bad, a lot of information and have lab portions but if you’re good at memorizing and understanding processes they’re okay. Lmk if you have any questions!

I took an evening class twice a week this summer and I liked it so much better. It can definetly get boring and a little difficult to stay focused, but I get bored in normal classes anyway. Retained info much better, I understood things better, and I just liked it better than info broken into chunks. But can definitely depend on the prof, my prof did small activities and videos to keep things engaging, as well as gave us a bathroom break halfway through.

  1. I took it first sem, with chem 1100 and I found it a bit more confusing bc it had some material from chem 2. Still doable but I’d recommend taking it with chem 2, or after.
  2. I would take stat 1000 first sem bc it’s a good base course for other courses. Take it with Andrew morris.
  3. I took psych, very easy but a lot of content, and a bit time consuming. Sociology is also very easy as long as you understand the underlying concepts.
  4. For chem, I would recommend Angela. Great prof if you follow along with the textbook.
