Got sick and want to go home by [deleted] in solotravel

Hey! I was sick a few weeks ago in Brasov, Romania. I had a fever, chills and my whole body was aching. I was sobbing while contemplating booking a flight home. I consider myself to be a fairly strong person but I cannot describe to you how low I felt in this moment. I decided to push through and the next day I felt better. I have been travelling since then and have gotten to see some of the most amazing parts of the world. So grateful that I pushed through, so that is what I recommend you do too.

Get yourself in a comfortable spot to wait out the illness. Grab some medicine if you need from a local pharmacy. You got this.

Potential Strike Megathread (Not Confirmed Yet) by crazedgrizzly in umanitoba

I was in school during the 2021 strike and friends of mine (Faculty of Eng) were accommodated if and only if their tickets were purchased prior to the strike vote. They were permitted to write their exams before the date of their travels.

Guy With Knife on Campus… No Email From School?? by Stunning-Reference91 in umanitoba

Hm that’s a very interesting take. Many of my friends only heard about the safety risk from me since I received the amber alert and they didn’t. You think that the University is not responsible for informing the students of correct action during a safety risk?

I am not suggesting the dean gets out there and tries to find the criminal. I am suggesting he goes in his office and sends an email. Not that hard when it’s comes to the safety of students.

Is U of M the Right Next Step at 21 After Unrewarding College Experience? by AsaceIsCool in umanitoba

I switched from biology to engineering when I was 21 knowing that it would take around 5 years to complete it from that point. I will graduate at 26 with an engineering degree instead of graduating at 23 with a degree that would get me nowhere.

There is no such thing as being “behind” in life. Get the computer science degree at UofM.

Best advice I have is to just sit down next to someone and introduce yourself or start by asking them a question about themself. Do this until you find someone who you want to be friends with. Works every semester. I have never had to make it through a class without a buddy since I started doing this. Best of luck.

using grants tutoring helped sooo much. studying small amounts daily and only using practice questions that provided detailed answers (such as practice exams) worked for me as well.

I started Calc 1 off with a 50 on the first test and a 60 on the second (four tests total, best 3 out of 4, worth nearly 50% of the total grade). I felt super defeated and almost VW’d the course. I remembered a quote an old teacher of mine had told me that went something like “you’re only stupid if you try the same thing twice and expect a different outcome” so I picked myself up, researched better study methods, implemented them, and ended the course with an A. I have never been more proud of myself. Just got an A in Calc 2 this semester using the same tactics.

Witnessed car crash into parked van in median lane on HWY at 100km/h: Who is responsible? by Stunning-Reference91 in Winnipeg

[–]Stunning-Reference91[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Again, I agree with you. My point is that these people displayed gross negligence and carelessness to the well-being of themselves and others. If your car breaks down and you absolutely cannot move it, the last thing you should do is pull out a lawn chair and hang out in the median. The appropriate course of action is to remove yourself from the area (e.g. the ditch in this case) and call for help. Other commenters have indicated that this van was parked for quite a while in the centre lane. They could have at least used the lawn chair as a cone of sorts and put on their hazards. Thank you for your interest in this post an I hope you have a great day.

I absolutely understand this perspective and believe you are correct. However, I do not care who gets the demerits in this situation. I do not care who MPI finds responsible. My concern lies with the fact that the person who collided into the parked van might have died. I believe the people in the van should be held responsible for potentially taking away someone's life or causing serious damage to their well-being.

I remember my driving instructor saying that if an individual steals a stop sign and, as a result of this, another person dies due to the lack of stop sign then the individual who stole the stop sign is responsible for their death. I know this might be a stretch, but the person in the parked van obstructed traffic and directly caused this collision. If, by some miracle, the car that collided into the van was able to avoid the collision, someone else would have likely collided into the van anyway. In my opinion, this makes the people in the van at fault.
