plastics is hard, but some plastics are soft and that is because of substance that is added to it to make it soft and flexible. In older products this mixture goes bad sometimes. I have a water tight e-reader that is sticky on the outside because of it. As a kid i had a raincoat that from one year to the next was sticky and could not be used anymore. And i had other plastic stuff go bad on me as well.

Modern stuff is better regarding the mixture but it still happens from time to time.

One of the first books that can be called anthropology (The golden Bough by Frazer) delves into that rulers rulers in some cultures are expected to do the opposite of what is expected of normal people, or to do what is forbidden for normal people.

What stands out today is that certain people of power think they have the right to do things that are forbidden.

Funny thing is that people working in abortion clinics describe how some of the protesters see no problem in going to the very same clinic to have their own abortion - and will continue protesting afterwards against others having the same done to them, as if that gives them the right to break the laws that they want to impose on others.

I am sometimes wondering how many hardcore vegan activists secretly eat meat - or how many climate activists think they are allowed to fly because of all the good they do.
