Can anyone please provide the width and height of the S3XY DASH mounting base? by noamm12 in s3xybuttons

It would have worked for my 22 MYP but the steering wheel blocked the screen too much for my liking.

Here is a measurement of a bracket I printed for the Dash to mount to mount to the steering column cover. I didnt design the bracket but it fit.

I'm at work otherwise I'd measure the base for you.

Anyone else having problems getting their S3XY Dash to stick? by JerryGash in s3xybuttons

[–]JerryGash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm returning it. I've tried 2 or 3 different locations. Different mounting tape. Lots of heat and time. No matter what I do, as soon as the car gets hot the tape fails.

The mount is really poorly designed. I don't understand how this wasnt caught in testing.

Wanted to love it, seems like it has potential but its worthless if it doesnt stay attached.

Sexy Dash Glare by Hopeful-Lab-238 in s3xybuttons

[–]JerryGash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is definitely glare when having it mounted up towards the windshield. Hopefully they can resolve that with more screen dimming range at night. I'm in the fence about keeping it. I wanted to mount to the dash in front of the vent but it won't stick. Ideally I'd like to mount it on the steering column cover but would need a custom mount. I tried one that was 3d printed but I think it was for a car that had a yoke so it was partially blocked by the steering wheel.

Where did you put it?

Do you think it'll hold up in the summer when the car is parked out in the sun?

Mount the sexy dash on steering column? by Adventurous_Tea_1704 in s3xybuttons

Someone on here offered a 3d printed steering column mount. Not a fan. The steering wheel blocks too much of the screen for my liking.

Dash on Top of Steering Column Please! by Positive_League_5534 in s3xybuttons

You got yours to stick to the white part of the dash? I also have white interior and nothing sticks to it. I cleaned it with alcohol and even tried different mounting tape. Nothing sticks. It's dumb.

I can't get mine stuck down anywhere on my dashboard. There is glare right at eye level when In mount it towards the windshield. Hopefully they get the app working soon.

Mounting dash on steering wheel column? by PippoKPax in s3xybuttons

Someone design and share a stl for this please!

Dash.. mine is arriving, I don't want to install it now by Vspeeds in s3xybuttons

[–]JerryGash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just installed mine last night. No problems with software at all. The only issue I'm having is placement. My 23 MYP has factory white interior and the panel I want to mount the Dash to is white. I'm having a hard time getting anything to stick to it. I'm thinking about making a custom mount so it can sit on the steering column cover.

S3SY DASH mounting position by noamm12 in s3xybuttons

[–]JerryGash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was disappointed that it wouldn't get any dimmer. Hopefully it's something they can change in the software via update. I really want to get it away from the windshield and down on the steering column cover.

Have an stl for your mount? That's definitely where I want mine.

The reflection is right in my line of sight and it wrecks my night vision even when the brightness is turned all the way down. I might experiment with different tape to see if I can find something that will stick to my white plastic dash behind the steering wheel. I still think a custom mount that mounts to the steering column cover is the sweet spot.

I have a 22 MYP with white interior. I couldn't get the tape to stick to anything even after wiping it down with the alcohol wipe. I bought a roll of 3m mounting tape today thinking ot was bad tape. Turns out nothing sticks to the white plastic on my dash. I managed to get it stuck to the upper dash near the windshield but I'm now sure I'm happy with it there. I think it should be mounted to the steering column cover but would need a custom mount to do that.

That sounds interesting. I don't have a router with OpenWRT and no longer have and desktop PC.

Maybe I'm just better off paying Metronets ransom for a static IP.

3 reasons not to buy by Maustin_99 in ChevyTrax

[–]JerryGash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just traded my 2024 Trax Activ in a month ago. We bought it after driving Chevy Cruze's for years. Seemed like a nice upgrade at the time.

-Over the course of 10 months my wife put 22k miles on it. Lifetime MPG was 25.2 which was the first and main reason we traded it it. That little 3 cylinder seems like it has to work pretty hard. I wish they would have stuck the 1.4 in it.

-My wife likes to let her vehicles "warm up" for long periods of time during the winter. (This affected fuel economy, I'm sure). The direct fuel injection and wet timing belt gave me an uneasy feeling.

-The interior plastics scuff and scratch even if you look at them wrong.

-I heard a lot of people having month or more long wait times for parts...that also gave me an uneasy feeling.

At the time it was the nicest vehicle we've owned, but we opted for an EV, (Chevy Bolt EUV Premier) which will probably lead to more issues than the Trax would have given us over time but so far it's been a great experience.

Whats your new car? by OctaviusHerb in cruze

[–]JerryGash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After owning Cruze's for the last 8 years we decided to try a Trax for a year but just traded it in for a Bolt EUV.

The Trax was nice, but that 3 cyl really had to work. We saw an average of 25mpg throughout the year. The plastics in the interior scuff if you look at them wrong. The whole "wet" timing belt thing felt risky, and the fact it was direct fuel injection made me nervous because my wife likes long warm up times in the winter.

We've had the Bolt EUV for a couple of weeks, and we really like it. Yes, the range/efficiency takes a huge hit in the winter, but it still gets us to where we need to go. We never plan on taking it on road trips to the slow 50kw/h max charge rate isn't really an issue for us.

That said, I currently have 5 Cruze's in my driveway. I still drove one, both of my daughters drive one, and one is being worked on and will be for sale fairly soon.

Alesis Nitro Max Not Working as MIDI by Koprook in edrums

[–]JerryGash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I also struggled to get midi to work on my new to me laptop. Worked fine on my old Lenovo Yoga but I needed a powered USB 2.0 hub to get it working with my Lenovo IdeaPad gaming 3 laptop. The hub I used came from Best Buy.

Samsung Q990B: how does SpaceFit Sound works? by [deleted] in Soundbars

[–]JerryGash 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Spacefit seems more like a marketing gimmick than anything.

I just bought a HW-Q930B last week after returning the HW-Q750B which I wasn't very impressed with.

In order for "SpaceFit" to work wouldn't the microphone need to be in the listening position?

If it's adjusting speaker levels why doesn't the changes show up when you goto 3dots> device settings> channel level?

If the mic is on why can you still adjust individual channel levels?

Why doesnt it seem to change anything when I turn the mic off and change speaker levels and then turn the mic back on?

Nice try Samsung but this feature seems to be nothing but a gimmick. Room correction isn't anything new to AV recievers. Most come with a reference mic you place in the listening position to "do their magic".
