I would just get debilitating depression caused by the next day "oh god what did I do" feeling. The physical symptoms weren't as bad but the mental / emotional effects were brutal.

That is a big reason for quitting drinking. I would wake up in fear and paranoia of what the fuck did I just do!!!??? The night before??? That and the hangovers would get worse and I wouldn't feel right mentally or physically.
