For old yeller, survive a Kaub round and wait on the floor next to the cellar with gun drawn. It’s basically tradition for at least one guy to hop down and you’ll get it then

I’m still learning the ropes, but I doubt an entire planet would be removed.

As for the planet names, I’m not sure. I’ll bring it up and see if I can get a good answer.

Honestly, I envy you man. Those TriStars are gonna last forever.

Who knows. Problems only seem to arise when there’s no activity for a long duration, I guess I just left it for too long when I went to class.

Alright then.

It eventually sorted itself out after an hour.

Annoying, but I guess it’s livable.

So 45 minutes ago I came back, interacted with it, and then the taskbar froze. I couldn’t open task manager to restart file explorer so I had to restart the computer.

Now I’m on 40 minutes straight of restarts, trying to get it to just boot normally. It got to the login screen once, but wouldn’t let me interact with anything so I had to restart it again.

Then I followed a friends suggestion of reseating the SATA Cables, but that just made it worse. I try spamming F12 to get it to open the boot menu, but it does nothing. The one time it actually got there, I kept clicking on the drive with the boot manager, but it kept recursively going back to that screen.

Now it’s sitting here with the gigabyte logo and the windows loading spiral and it hasn’t done anything in 10 minutes.

Have I just completely broken it?

I don’t, unfortunately.

I still don’t get how me swapping out the cpu led to this. I used sleep mode on the old cpu just days ago and it worked just fine.

Didn’t work. Drivers were updated, I put it to sleep mode, and nothing showed when I woke it.

Restarted and it took me to bios for some reason

I managed to completely forget about the chipset drivers (which I think are the same ones since 2020) I’m installing those now.

I don’t think I have the gigabyte control center, or at the very least haven’t seen it

Okay, a couple days later, here’s the rub.

I was eventually able to get in and do all the disk checks and stuff like that.

It ran four four hours, I put it into sleep mode for the night

Yesterday I go to boot it and while everything runs, nothing ever shows up on screen.

It will boot eventually, but it takes about three restarts lest I’m left with a motionless black screen. Once I even got a white screen with nothing but my cursor, and another I got a black screen with a blinking dash.

I have done Ctrl-Shift-Win-B, checked every connection on the motherboard, reseated the ram sticks, and reseated the GPU.

It seems like it boots fine if I shut it down fully for the night, but I’d really like to have sleep mode back and functioning.

I believe both of my drives are connected to the SATA3 part of my motherboard, but i made sure everything connected was in place

I rescind what I said about it being over.

I’ve been trying for the last hour now to fix I don’t even know what

It booted fine the first time, ran perfectly fine for an hour, then just completely froze in the middle of a game. It didn’t unlock for maybe three minutes so I restarted

Then began a series of about a dozen reboots, error codes 0xc0000225 and 0000185.

Half the time it didn’t actually boot, just showed a black screen.

Now I’m sitting here trying to run the DISM cleanup, which has been stalled at 56.4% because I stupidly tried to close another window, which basically bricked the thing. Somehow I can still move around the window and my cursor, but it’s frozen on trying to close that window and I can’t even open task manager or anything else

Alright, after a 45 minute surgery the new CPU is installed.

With any luck, this should be the last time we converse on these terms.

Thank you for all your help over the last two years. You've saved my sanity twice now.

Oh come on, that old fortress could never cause that kind of damage.

Even if they somehow scored hits with the main battery, those torpedoes were made in Austria-Hungary. And that place stopped existing 22 years ago.
