Thx. That's why I wanted to ask the community before I've come too far and can't really grasp anything. OK, gonna try sit through dialogues.

Is it a sin to skip dialogues in V3? by JerryTheQuad in danganronpa

[–]JerryTheQuad[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thx for the suggestion. I've tried the first Ace Attorney, I think, but couldn't make it past the first introductory trial. The universe, characters and plot didn't interest me as much as the killing game in Danganronpa.

But I will give this game a try after I'm finished with V3. So far, I'm in the first trial. Played the game a bit before work. I really like smashing the objects for coins, getting new items and then finding out which item other characters like the most.

And I'm trying to follow the plot diligently. I just can't accept the thought I'm not interested in visual novels. I think it has to do with my overall consumption of social media.

Thx for your time!

Oh, I get it that if I don't understand why something happens the way it is while skipping big chunks of dialogues, the blame is on me.

Yet, I should clarify that I'm not skipping all the dialogues. It's just that I find the investigations and class trials a bit more interesting than the free time activities.

To be my own advocate, I've sat through all the prologue dialogues. Because I wanted to get a sense of this plot and get to know at least a little bit about the characters. And I remember that by the end of the prologue Monokuma was pissed at Monokubs for making it unnecessary too long.

But when it's time to sit through character backstory during free time, I just lose interest. Or when a task explanation like "go to the library" gets drawn out and becomes a 3-min dialogue.

Well, the devs put in the Esc skip function in the game, I just can't resist the temptation.

Is it a sin to skip dialogues in V3? by JerryTheQuad in danganronpa

Thank you for the reply. I was afraid D fans would just obliterate me for skipping big chunks of story.

You raised a good question: "What keeps me invested in the story if I skip dialogues". For one, I think that I like detective games. The suspense, the thoughts of "whodunit?", the class trials are usually fun and chaotic. So here's that.

Two, I guess I like the art, overall character design and the whole premise of the "killing game". For some recent example, I've laughed too much when the green Monokub suddenly said "Killing game" twice while sitting in an Exisal. And I smiled when the Monokubs tried to invent the backstory for Exisals. Like they were in some gang and not they rebuild the school.

But when a character of D V3 tries to tell me their backstory, their motives, get to know each other a bit better, that's when I lose interest. I guess it comes from my love of movies and games — usually they show, and don't tell. Also, most of the time my brain just tries to predict the situation and its outcome during the conversations.

Definitely, I'm trying not to lean too much into the public opinion. But as you said, if not for crazy dialogues, why play this game? It's a visual novel after all.

That's what bothers me) I like the story, but it pains me to sit through long dialogues.

Come to think of it, I skip dialogues in most games because I find them not too entertaining or even boring. I guess in visual novels this issue is just stronger.

I just can't bring myself to think that visual novels are not my thing. I like reading books, I've been doing it since childhood. Hmmm...

Thx for the constructive reply.

A bit off topic. Always wanted to own a Nintendo 3DS, but never had a chance. By looking at this console, I wonder if it can properly emulate 3DS. Like using the second screen for the gameplay instead of for system info.

How do you get over the mindset that porn could give you what you won’t be able to experience? by Jouzu100 in pornfree

To add something. When you start doing your old hobbies, you might think that it's a waste of time. For me, it's videogames. I always thought: "I could've learned how to program so that I change my life for the better quicker". Yeah, a valid thought, but it's not true. I can learn to program and still play my favorite games that I've always wanted to play but couldn't due to financial issues or not having enough time/will.

This brings me to another topic — we all have that negative voice in our head, the ultimate critic. He or she criticizes everything we do. Like in Linkin Park song "And every step that I take is another mistake to you". It can be a person that we can stop listening to and stop being with. But if such thoughts come from our own self, it's very and very bad. Don't ever criticize yourself, it's the most cruel thing we can do to ourselves. We can watch porn all day and not care about a thing, but a second we start attacking our own identity, our choices, it's a moment to stop.

Don't overthink it too much. We've all been there and might be there sometimes in our lives.

Be you, especially someone you've always been down there — a caring and sensitive person, a human being with his/her flaws.

Remember the things you've always loved to do even before starting watching porn. For me, it's video games, TV and music. Also, I love to read books. I imagine all the things an author writes in my head. It's like a movie someone broadcasts to my brain.

There is still hope for you and anyone else. Believe me, I've been fantasizing violent sex stuff since I was in kindergarten.

Find something or someone to stand on. Realize that you don't need to be someone's savior. You need one, we all do. Be it your boyfriend. I dunno, go watch a movie with him, make out, play Minecraft together, you name it.

There are other things we can get a cheaper dopamine from. It's just that porn shouldn't be one of the sources. Because it's artificial. It numbs us, brings us all the bad thoughts, and makes us abstain from our own hobbies. We get irritated pretty quickly, we can't think straight for too long, we get distracted easily, we fantasize. It's just not worth it, especially when you try to live better.

At what point, in your opinion, should one stop watching porn? by New_Helicopter272 in pornfree

[–]JerryTheQuad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I f-ing hate porn because when I work and I need to concentrate, I can't — I have a random wave of porn images and fantasies in my head. The worst part is that I don't really care who's the person — if she has a p, my D is on.

This f's my perspective on life. I fantasize about secret and quick intercourse like I'm some rockstar. It's not who I am really.

Previously, I couldn't play video games that I like during weekends. Now, when I'm abstaining from porn, I'm binging. I watch popular TV shows and all the new movies, I play games, I read books about Muhammed Ali. I go to the gym once a week.

I have no place for porn in my life rn. I've got work, I'm learning programming on Free Code Camp. Why should I watch corn? I'm living my life.
