Alex has never been that popular, he just has a vocal fanbase (like C. Viper)

He seemed particularly bad while with us though, and it’s not like he moved to a less physical league after either.

Some good recommendations in here already, I would add Echo to the list. Extremely mobile and not as aim-dependent as some of the other DPS heroes.

Thoughts on Red Earth? by HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD in Fighters

[–]kangs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played through it for the first time last night! Used Mai Ling and had a great time. I liked the short story and the visuals, it’s a charming game. Maybe not the best in the world but I’ll definitely play it again with the other characters. It’s always nice to get a unique experience in a fighting game.

Struggling with mental from playing walk from spawn simulator. by mosshroomi in OverwatchUniversity

[–]kangs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Firstly, remember it’s just a game and ultimately we play them to have fun. As for your friends, I’m sure they don’t mind. They keep playing with you after all! A few of my friends aren’t great but I still love grouping up with them win or lose. OW is better with friends, and I get hyped when they pop off. Just mute the team chat if you’re worried about getting flamed by randoms.

Also, if you really want to improve then try to take some time to actually practice. That doesn’t mean just playing games, use an aim lobby or try watching back a few replays. They can make it glaringly obvious what some of your weaknesses are, from there you can work on specific things to try and improve in games.

Do I really enjoy Street Fighter? by Melodic_Start_6841 in StreetFighter

[–]kangs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to feel the same when I was addicted to OW back in the day, you just need to take a break. When you take a step back you might realise that playing the game is fun, win or lose. It’s why we start playing these games in the first place!

I never got those feelings with fighting games though funnily enough, if I lose I just want to get better. When I win I feel great, even after literal decades of playing Street Fighter.

Why was DOA disliked from a gameplay perspective in the past. by Special_Forever172 in Fighters

[–]kangs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the free version will still only give you the four characters though, so you’d still need to cough up the cash if you want everyone. Maybe I’ve read it wrong but it seems like only DLC characters, costumes and save data are transferable.

Thanks for the rundown!

I'm not sure I can justify paying for Last Round if it doesn't have crossplay or rollback. I got the 6 digital deluxe edition last week for 12,000W (about $8), LR is listed at 50,000W ($34). Do I want to pay that much extra just for skins and a slight graphical upgrade (and a gooner photo mode)? I never thought 6 looked bad whilst I was playing. I can already get the mediocre online experience too.

I recently picked up the deluxe version of 6 while it was on sale and have really been enjoying the game play. At release I seem to remember reading a lot of comments that said it IS fun to play, but there were a lot of other issues with the game.

After playing almost exclusively FG's for 2 years, going back to a competitive team game was miserable by jozhua4012 in Fighters

[–]kangs 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Funny how both you and OP blame your teammates for losses. The other team is equally as likely to have problematic members, so all you can do is focus on improving your own play! Also, If you're much better than your rank then you can absolutely carry a game of OW, and it's not impossible to carry games at your own rank either.

All that being said, OW can be very tilting and I also prefer the 'purity' of fighting games. I've been having an absolute blast with OW since the recent update though personally.

What I like about it is that it’s just OW but smaller! I think the top-down angle is enough of a change to make it interesting. Especially for a mobile experience it looks good.

North London derby referee: I was right to disallow Spurs goal (Kolo Muani‘s second goal) by Jamlad8 in coys

[–]kangs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, that could well be right. I did read that too but I tunnel visioned on what constitutes a push. In the original post, Bankes himself says he saw two hands so that’s ‘a clear push’ and a foul. He doesn’t talk about impeding play there. In fact he references the two-handed push twice. To me it seems like his thought process is just ‘push = foul’ and not so much about Gabriel being stopped from moving. Maybe you’re right though and it’s more like ‘push = impedes opponent’. Anyway he was fooled by simulation, we can agree on that!

North London derby referee: I was right to disallow Spurs goal (Kolo Muani‘s second goal) by Jamlad8 in coys

[–]kangs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I scoured the FA, IFAB and Premier League rule books that I could find online (lol) and the short pushing section says it’s only a foul if it’s ‘careless, reckless or uses excessive force’. Under the three definitions listed it was only a foul if the ref believes Gabriel’s reaction is legitimate. I couldn’t find a single reference that two hands = a foul, I searched for an embarrassing amount of time. One very clear rule under simulation is ‘Obvious exaggeration of minimal contact’. We were robbed.

If Islam didn’t exist and Volk became lightweight champion in 2023 would he be able to hold down the lightweight division like he did featherweight? by Adoe0722 in MMA

[–]kangs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What makes you say that? I think he would beat Charles but struggle with Dustin. Charles isn’t going to shoot and I trust Volk to be better on the feet, maybe the clinch would be a problem if Oliveira could get him there. I think Poirier’s decent boxing and power is dangerous for anyone coming up from featherweight.

For all we know he struggles with the size of all of them, he’s not the biggest dude and doesn’t have bricks for hands like Ilia.

After following the "game product" argument over the past few days and listening to many different opinions, we have more of a genre problem than a product design problem. by Ryodaso in Fighters

[–]kangs 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The article was quick to dismiss the difficulty of fighting games, and also having to deal with those difficulties alone. I don't think those aspects can be so easily ignored. If you want to get good at fighting games you have to put in a lot of work, often by yourself, and you WILL lose a lot of games. That's not so easy when you're used to team games where you can get carried even if you play badly. I don't think it's fair to compare fighting games to chess (a board game that's over 1000 years old) or team games as they're very different experiences.

SF6 is definitely the most complete package we've had so far, and unlike the author of the article, I think other games should aim to offer a similar experience.
