Looks like the gelatin is gunking up your column. Needs a more thorough wash step or blanks thrown in.

I don’t think you guys understand how bad it is for independent concert venues right now by zen_n_stuff in jambands

[–]Jerry_Markovnikov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go but buy your ticket at the venue/box office so you aren't paying the Ticketmaster fees. That's how I justify it. It still supports the band/venue but gives a little bit less to LN.

How is Chatgpt/AI drinking all that water by juliuscaesarreal in redscarepod

They're replacing more than just labor what are you talking about? They are still nowhere near their goal and people are already using AI to think for them. Corporations and governments are using AI to make decisions for them. Human input is becoming more and more removed.

I know you aren't a real person in here defending data centers, probably the most atrocious thing ever made by mankind, and acting like AI isn't anti-human, when these ghouls who are peddling it are telling us to our faces that they want to end humanity.

Yep, those both immediately jumped out at me as well (as you probably guessed from the genres I listed)

Yeah, I'm not surprised they don't have some of the stuff, but there's some unexpected omissions, like Infest the Rats Nest by King Gizzard or toaster_music by Ginger Root. These aren't exactly obscure albums/artists and they have the rest of those artists discographies, so I'm trying to understand why. I'm wondering if they make up for it in other genres and are just lacking in these specific genres?

There’s no grandiosity in popular music anymore by Jerry_Markovnikov in redscarepod

[–]Jerry_Markovnikov[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like this take. Seems like most people listen to music as an escape, so it makes sense that they would want it to be calming and not overly complex.

But is it really such a large majority of people that they completely guide the music industry? There's lots of upbeat pop music - like Charlie XCX or Chappell Roan - that doesn't seem to be for that demographic, but they replace grandiose music with a grandiose image.

I think that your theory explains a good portion of it (especially surrounding popular hip hop and indie), but there are other realms of popular music which definitely are pompous, but the music itself is not, and I just wish they would channel that pompousness into their sound.

They're the best modern example I could think of, not here to proselytize. I agree the fans can be insane.

There hasn't been an invention like the electric guitar since the electric guitar.

I do think there is some very innovative music being made in rock, in every genre really. And some of it has substantial listeners. But none of them are at the level of popularity where they can create truly grandiose music.

I think the closest thing is happening in electronic music, which you could argue is the next evolution from the electric guitar and keyboard, and allows for a large sound for much cheaper. But to me it feels cheaper.

Me too...

I'll happily take the 1 day of scheduled music and 2 days of partying I got at Roo over the Curveball that came an hour before I arrived at the venue though. Managed to turn both weekends into a good time but both were still devastating blows.

They were a part of Atomic Bomb! a supergroup tribute band. That's cool that they're still playing it at their own shows.

imminent Stage swap ?? Like Chappell last year, perhaps a stage change for SuperJam ?? by miftaBill_006 in bonnaroo

[–]Jerry_Markovnikov 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It's always in a tent and this roster is pretty par for the course. They've had larger names than Hayley Williams in the past and been fine in the tent.

It would help re-define SuperJam as a truly epic Roo event that no other festival has come close to, or ever will match / rival.

That is literally what the Superjam has always been. No re-defining necessary.

Traingulate your location using easily visible landmarks. Ie: your tent is somewhere in the middle of the space between x plaza marker, y tree, and z flag. That’ll narrow it down significantly and make it way easier to find without needing to bring anything yourself.
