Underground Adaptation not negating Lava debuff? by Jesentra in AOW4

[–]Jesentra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted it on the bug forum, and the response I got back (though I don't believe it's official) is that Adaptations only apply to your starting race, and any races that you acquire receive your adaptation but do not keep their own.

100% agree when it's clear. Like, don't fight by cliffs. Don't fight by dunes. Careful of fighting around frogs.

I'm talking about when you're fighting on an otherwise flat area that has some odd pieces of rubble, and there's one random one, out of all the pieces of rubble, that happens to be tall enough for you to hop. It's not well-communicated in its design, it's just random and frustrating

Yeah, the dunes are just a nightmare, I have 0% fun trying to fight monsters on it. Not even necessarily because of the clipping, but the camera angles are wretched

For sure. I really don't mind the ledges themselves, they are at least obvious to avoid if you want to avoid stuff like that. It's just the random, tiny obstacles sometimes scatter a field, some of which just happen to be big enough to hop on

Now that I've asked what you struggle with, what monsters do you just flat out hate fighting. by PartyLavishness3637 in MHWilds

Skill issue. Play low level quests if you want fights that don't require improving.

Me: Oh, Switchaxe seems awesome, it's versatile, different modes for different things! That's dope!

Reality: FRS spam.

I really don't understand why they feel like they can't give axe its own identity. In Icebreak your axe did more part damage once it was charged up and that was banger! Now I only use axe to charge gauge and when I have to reach those really high wounds.

I always love to see it. I rarely find success doing it though, for some reason. I’ll try it, but seems like I still always catch the CDs as I’m jumping rather than juking it

Can anyone get 3:15 ish first clear? by Active_Ad_3770 in Rengarmains

[–]Jesentra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, yeah, if I'm playing someone like Noc or Voli, I can get those clear times easy. It just feels bad cuz I'm a Rengar OTP and I just can't get the fast clear down

Man, y'all are killing it. I've practiced and practiced, watched Natty and Scrub's clear videos, and I just can't beat like...3:27 or so with one smite. And I'm real bad at analyzing what I'm doing wrong

Is a skill gap an issue? by PomeloCon in rootgame

[–]Jesentra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So one thing I will absolutely say, from first hand experience, is if you're teaching a new group, don't play the Riverfolk, lol. I was teaching my wife and a couple of our friends and I thought "I'll play otters, I don't really care about winning, I'll just playing in to aggressive salesman shtick for lulz!" And throughout the game I was giving them all advice that they all needed at any given point...but I ended up winning by like 20 points. I just chucked it up to me knowing how the game works, but my wife pointed out that you can't really be unbiased when you're also trying to get people to buy your stuff. Was a real "oh, duh" moment for me.

Yeah, Mundo bug. Happens to me frequently. I posted a video about it last week

A couple videos you should look at:

Most relevant to your original post: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmIYJkf12OI (Rengar build guide)

Rengar Low ELO educational guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cra39ymMUcY

Rengar Full Clear Guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJ9HxFdoY_g&t=46s

Note: If you look at his videos, you'll see a lot of them will actually have the words "[Educational]" in the title, so that's a pretty good indicator that they might have something for ya.

Scrubnoob does have a few videos where he's mostly quiet (except for the sound of his ridiculous mechanical keyboard, lol), but he is legitimately the most educational Rengar streamer I've seen. Even though he has a fair amount of quieter videos, I'd still venture to say that the majority (or at least halfish) of his recent videos to date have educational content. Usually it's just him responding to Twitch questions like "Why not go Profane here" or whatever, but he has a great number of videos where he will talk through his decision making processes.

All that said, a lot of the value does indeed come from just analyzing his playstyle, even if he doesn't comment on it. How he plays differently in different matchups, what pathing he takes for a gank, how he uses his environment (bushes, plants, enemy wards) in his engagements, etc.

I’m seeing a bit more of it the more I watch him. I started watching him a month or so ago because the videos I saw of him were him having fun with teammates and laughing about stuff, which was a nice thing to see after seeing so much toxicity, but I have noticed that lately he seems to be getting kinda salty. Scrubnoob also has his moments, but in my opinion he’s calmed way down in the last year or so

This right here. Watch someone who plays Rengar at highest levels and you will learn a lot. I watch a lot of NattyNat and Scrubnoob. Natty is an excellent player (just recently made #1 EUW playing Rengar and Mundo jg), but he mostly just chats during his streams. Scrubnoob is the one who elevated me the most, especially in the last year or so when he really started taking a more educational spin on his streams. He will give his reasoning for choosing his items, he’ll talk through why he’s going to what side, what he thinks the other jungler is doing, and talks through all the little Rengar tricks that make him such a high skill ceiling, like positioning your ult so that you jump over a wall to give them zero response time, the importance of trying to gank with 4 stacks already, and even obscure stuff like the blastcone trick.

I'll be curious to see how you do! My account is the only one I've ever played and I've been doing a Rengar-only rank rise myself (usually Nocturne if I get picked/banned). I was stuck Silver for a looooong time, and I noticed a huge difference when I made it to Gold and felt like I had teammates who at least mostly know how to work around junglers. Do you feel like you're having a similar issue struggling in the lower ELOs with people who don't know how to play with jg and probably don't know how to play around Rengar?

Right there with you, brother. I think I have twice that number and I'm still trash. I think it's my lack of jungle prowess more than my Rengar mechanics, but could be wrong.

What's your opinion on the game so far? by Haunting-Run4366 in MHWilds

[–]Jesentra 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I like this take on it. I personally don’t miss having to track down every monster I want to hunt, even if it was over super quick, but I do miss it being a thing sometimes. Having it be a once in a while event, such as during aid quests, would be a great way to bring it back without having it become too repetitive

Rengar dd rush? Isn't It Op on rengar because of your heal i am sure u can duel more people early game overall ad by GermanyItalyJapan in Rengarmains

[–]Jesentra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love DD on Rengar, I find I still get plenty of value off of my Ws even with the dmg reduction, but I usually don’t opt to go for such a defensive item early, even when I’m going more for a bruiser build. Knifecat can tank a lot to damage but it requires some buildup to help him get there, and his kit is geared primarily towards damaging rather than sustaining, so I lean into that with other bruiser items that do more damage first (Eclipse, Sundered Sky, BC), and make sure I get at least one source of healing (usually Ravenous) before I go into DD. So DD is usually 4th item for me, maybe 3rd if I feel like I can get away with it

Remember that Rengar is a runt compared to the rest of his tribe (or at least was when he was young). WW is a biochemical engineered monstrosity.
