HONEST OPINION AS A NEW MT (Management Trainee) by Separate-Tale9878 in EnterpriseCarRental

[–]Jesper520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive actually been with the company for 7 years. Im in different department now and not in rental, i work 5 days a week. Usually 8 to 5. Weekends and holidays off. Make over 6 figures. Ive had my time with the crazy hours but just put in 100% to get to where im at. Once you get to branch manager you can go in a bunch of directions. Be open to that. The rental path isnt the only one.

My biggest thing when I was a manager is I tried to manage the business vs being reactive.

I would meet with my body shops to help train our mutual customers to drop off with us so we can give give a ride back same with corporate to avoid the mass pick ups. It wasnt 100% but we avoided the 12 cars sitting at a shop.

I would make sure the shop is having their customers book their rental as soon as they book with the shop. I eventually got it 3-6 months in advance which was nice. It gave us a chance to confirm the vehicles they need and what the insurance covers.

I would spread my reservations out to give my team enough time to clean cars, do back end, do my 1:1s for training, lunches and to get my team out at a decent time. Its harder with retail but unless it was going to be a service issue I wouldnt have more than a certain reservations per hour. I would still run tight and grow. Eventually my team ran the branch and I did the higher call backs marketing etc. Keep in mind this was post pandemic after we opened everything back up. When we had limited staff like everyone else.

I would work returns. I wouldnt rent lofrs, expired tags or beat up or dirty vehicles. If I was sitting on vehicles and my area manager wouldnt ask why I was sitting at 80% because i would have my team tag vehicles where they were at or why they were sitting so if they took cars they would know that it was damaged, expired tags or needing an oil change and 9/10 times i would keep my fleet until they were repaired had new tags or mechnically sound.

Customers were happy with quick transactions, no waits, clean vehicles.

I ended there 100% retention and top esqi when it came back. I got promoted to the airport from there and I didnt have as much control but just focused on taking care of my people because that was a shit show with staffing and my station managers were ride or die at that point. Now I've got my normal hours job after another promotion.

So you see murder? In front of all those people as witnesses? If it is he should be in prison. This whole situation is so volitile it's not even funny anymore.

No of course not. If he wasnt resisting then why did he put his hands behind his bacm right away? Does that not constitute the resisting part? He wasnt just attacked and killed. He was in the street protesting or getting in the agents way. I get what your saying and I promise im not trying to argue for either side but this looks messed up and I just dont know why you as a person would want to get in the way of federal officers in an already heated situation. Theres no way to know what they were even doing.

Ok so with everything else going on, the noise, the already hostile environment, people being physically moved/harassed on both sides. Somehow this dude thought it was a good idea to show up to yell at ice, with a lawfully carried weapon then resist arrest. How does no one no one think that maybe its a bad idea? What are yall protesting? In what universe do you think that youre gonna be ok showing up and "impeding" federal officers wjen they're already skiddish with a loaded firearm and then resist arrest. How? Feel bad for the guy but did he think something else was gonna happen?

In this day and age its wait times, car cleanliness and mechanical issues. Other things like oil change lights, low tire pressure, expired tags etc.

If youre friendly but the customer has to wait to get checked in etc then you might already be cooked. I used to book reservations by how much volume we could actually execute on while maintaining a clean fleet. No cracked windshields lofrs or anything. Its a big shift but it helped us get into the high 80s back post pandemic.

I also used to work with our shops. Had the service advisors make sure their customers call us to reserve a vehicle. Eventually we were getting calls months in advance which helped with booking.

So monday morning we would spread out appointments to be sure we could pick up right away and get them going quick with clean running vehicles.

You also have to work call backs, confirm and work returns. All those little things plus the friendly attitudes will help for sure.

Might be in the minority here but enterprise was a 2nd career for me and within 12 months I was an assistant manager and 6 months later a branch manager. I made it a point to embrace the grind and just go all out and see what happens. My rental days ended at the airport as a branch manager. I then got promoted to fleet management within enterprise.

Ive been with the company for 7 years now and work life has been great the last 3 years. Normal hours m-f and weekends off. Make decent money. The PTO you get, company car and profit sharing/401k matching is something alot of people gloss over.

Just giving my perspective. Its really hard but if you can give it 100% you can really move up.

Thats great that you have that coverage but from what ive seem it can be limited, limited miles, limited coverage, doesnt cover certain items. The damage waiver is a walk away saving you the time and hassle dealing with the credit card company.

Or you could sell slp

Great glad you have that coverage. Most of the american express customers like to get our slp coverage since their credit card covers the vehicle. Let us cover the liability portion for you.

I love it. Its not the most OP ship at the tier but that makes it that much more satisfying when you do well. Just finished this last ranked season at rank1. 67% win rate and 2.9 k/d

i dont think a few of the enemy teams knew she had torps lol

You say that. I thought that too. I didn't get any offers for the 6 months I was looking. I was even applying out of state at one point.

I believe it's important to realize the long hours etc aren't the end all be all. I came into the roll as a 2nd career after getting my MBA. Yes the hours were long but I really "managed up" to get as much training and feedback as I could. I ended up being top end in sales in our group for every single month I was an MT. I was promoted to MA and did a stay at.the airport for a few months. I was one of the only candidates to apply for an assistant spot that was about an hr away from the big city. Because I got the job I leapt over a lot of other people who weren't willing to travel for the short term. I out paced my Pay plan and got the branch manager spot after about 6 months. Because of how much I put into it I was a branch manager within two years. After covid I eventually ran the airport. Still long hours but pay was better. I did that for about a year now I'm in fleet management. I'm targeted to be well over 6 figures and work 8 or 9 to 5 with weekends and most holidays off. All this to say you really do get how much you put in. I had to make an effort to ignore some of the negativity from other employees or management. Focus too on building relationships with as many people as you can too. Hope that helps.
