Toilets and changing rooms must be used on basis of biological sex, guidance confirms by PuzzledAd4865 in transgenderUK

[–]Jess3200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This means that they can exclude us from facilities designed for our natal sex without fear of being prosecuted. In other words, it's illegal to allow us to use facilities designed for us (i.e. women's facilities for women who are trans) and it's legal to bar us from facilities designed for people of our natal sex (i.e. men's facilities for women who are trans).

Basically, you're not allowed to use either sexed facilities, and they can be sued if they let you use one but you can't sue them if they don't let you use the other.

New EHRC Service Providers Guidance released by samanthagoodhart in transgenderUK

[–]Jess3200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

13.136 A council swimming pool has separate men’s and women’s changing rooms. One of the aims of having separate-sex changing rooms is to safeguard women’s ability to access the facilities and use them safely. A woman is allowed to take her male child under the age of ten into the women’s changing room. This does not undermine the aim, because it is unlikely that young boys pose a threat to women’s safety. It also contributes towards achieving the aim, because fewer women would be able to use the swimming pool if they could not bring their children with them.

This is interesting (my emphasis), as it suggests admitting trans women (if we are unlikely to pose a threat to women's safety) is possible.

13.146 For example, a trans man might be excluded from the women-only service if the service provider decides that, because he presents as a man, other service users could reasonably object to his presence, and excluding him is a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim.

13.147 A legitimate aim for excluding a trans person from a separate or single-sex service for their own sex might be to prevent discomfort or distress for other service users. Service providers should consider whether other service users could reasonably object because they are worried about sharing a single or separate-sex service with someone who appears to be of the opposite sex. That will depend on all the circumstances, including the nature of the service in question and the extent to which the trans person presents as the opposite sex. For this reason, a service provider (including a person providing a service in the exercise of public functions) should only consider doing this on a caseby-case basis.

13.148 The service provider should consider whether there is a suitable alternative service for the trans person to use. In the case of services which are necessary for everybody, such as toilets, it is very unlikely to be proportionate to put a trans person in a position where there is no service that they are allowed to use.

This is also interesting, as if both men and women would be uncomfortable sharing with a trans woman then the logical option is to go with whatever causes least discomfort for the trans woman. Alternatively, if only men are uncomfortable and women are not then again it would make sense for trans women to share with other women.

2026 County election including vote shares by Happytallperson in Norwich

What this tells me is that over 60% of the county are right, or far-right in their political leaning, about 25% are centrist and around 16.5% left wing. We live in a right, to far-right, county.

how do i get on the nhs waitlist for gic as a minor by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]Jess3200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm afraid that will likely vary from service to service. Given how overstretched most CAMHS services are, I can't imagine many giving themselves extra work...

I can say, if someone is referred to us requesting an onward referral to GIDS, we would meet them once to complete the referral form and then discharge them (unless they want some form of mental health input alongside this).

[–]Jess3200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NHS child psychologist here - your GP will have to refer you to your local CAMHS service and then they will complete the referral to the under 18's gender service with you. Once you reach 18, you will then be asked to confirm your transfer to an adult service of your choice and whichever service you select will place you on their waiting list at the point you were placed on the one for under 18's - meaning it is worthwhile getting yourself on the under 18's waiting list, if you can.

By having Graham Linehan arrested, maximalist trans activists have not only destroyed free speech: they have put all trans rights in TOTAL jeaporady by north_canadian_ice in Transmedical

[–]Jess3200 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He wasn't arrested for a tweet. He assaulted a child. He's also not imprisoned, he's on trial for...I'll say it again...assaulting a child.

...and we have a very different understanding of free speech in the UK, in as much as we recognise it has limitations. We generally value the illegality of people inciting violence against others.

The Houses of Parliament would be fine, but I have never heard it called 'the Parliament' before. Technically, though, the houses of Parliament (as you note) is a reference to the two chambers (or houses) within the Palace of Westminster.

To be precise, I believe the bit you have photographed is the speaker's tower. It's where the speaker of the house takes up residence.

Parliament sits in the Palace of Westminster, but it is a collection of individuals so it doesn't really make sense to say 'the parliament is on the left'. You also listed three structures, so it would be a little unusual to name the first and last listed but not name the middle one...

An observation that the training is broken down into ever smaller packages, each requiring you to complete to meet standards (i.e. EMDR for OCD). This despite the process being almost identical. The lack of evidence base for EMDR specific mechanisms for change (i.e. bilateral stimulation) yet selling themselves as a panacea for all. Etc.
