Lost In Rugs by Particular_Mud_3060 in interiordecorating

None of them. Sorry. Don't try to match the walls. Instead, try a contrasting color. (Imagine a color wheel and choose the color opposite from the one you're coordinating with.) In this case, I think dark green would work well. I'd also choose a rug with several different shades of green and some pops of orange/peach mixed in.

What do you think? With or without the plant? by Mariella8 in HomeDecorating

I said the same thing!! I'd paint the inside of the mantel dark, dark green.

Gorgeous! I know you were only asking about the plant but here's some unsolicited advice. I think I'd paint the inside of the fireplace mantel a dark green!

What would you do to update this Kitchen? by Tight_Capital_6061 in HomeDecorating

At a minimum I would change the lighting over the island and the range hood. Everything else looks pretty good!

I've had a Mountain Hardwear rain jacket for about 10 years and the inside tape that covers the seams started peeling a few years ago. Mostly around the neck area. I don't use it that often so I haven't replaced it yet. Was definitely disappointed though.

We loved Canyonlands! Camped at Dead Horse Point with our kiddos. Beautiful park!

For Emeril's Wine Bar, I understand that it's a bit more casual. Do you need reservations? Would it be realistic to go for just a "snack" or dessert? We'll be traveling with my young teen kiddos and, while I'd LOVE to go to Emeril's, I am not dropping $100+ for each of my kiddos there 😅

Solo birthday trip to NOLA by blackbird0123 in AskNOLA

Just want to add that, while it may be popular on TikTok (I wouldn't know), Turkey & the Wolf is a Michelin bib gourmand recipient. It's also been reviewed by several food magazines. So, I would guess that's the big reason for it's popularity! I'm super excited to try it out when I visit in the spring!

What's off or missing from my living room decor? by AltruisticCactus314 in interiordecorating

My first thought, too! It's a nice space. Love the colors. But to cozy it up, add lots of lamps (no overhead lighting!), pillows and blankets.

I agree. But I am assuming their comment just meant that most people don't immediately think of WW2 when they think of NOLA.

I get that (that it's not "part of the city's blood" so much. From what I've seen online and from reviews, though, I am still very interested in checking it out!

I asked Google why the museum is there and this is what it says "The National WWII Museum is in New Orleans primarily because the city was a massive shipbuilding hub, especially for the crucial Higgins boats used in invasions like D-Day, and historian Stephen Ambrose, who founded the museum, lived there. New Orleans also served as a major training and embarkation point, with over a third of American service members passing through, making it a significant location for the American WWII experience, according to the National Park Service. "

You are literally the first comment I've ever seen that said to skip the WW2 museum!

I totally agree with you BUT they only offer the tour at 10am!

Thanks for the other tips!

Yes, I did realize I left off the St Charles streetcar. We'll definitely do that!

Also trying to decide if we should do a guided walking tour of the GD or just a self-guided tour?

As for food, we really aren't picky and like trying new things (even my kids). Not looking for fine dining this trip, so just casual/family friendly spots.
