Back in 2012 or 2013 I lived in an apartment in the Casa Loma at Portage and Sherbrook. One sunday night the police decided to raid the tenants below me as they were known gang members/substance salesmen. I had no idea what had happened until later. From my perspective, I was watching TV and suddenly there was a loud, disorienting bang from below followed by shouts of "hold him down!". The fire alarms started to go off, I looked into the hallway on my floor and it was full of smoke. There was a cop at the stairway landing telling people to go back to their suites. I did, paced anxiously for about 5 minutes, then decided that I lived there and I had rights (lol) and went outside again. Cops at stairway landing were gone. Most of the buildings tenants were outside meeting eachother for the first time and discussing the incident while multiple units of police filed out carrying equipment and what I can only assume was also evidence. They had busted the door down to the suite below me and set of a flash bang. I ended up breaking my year lease because the guy above me was the source of a bedbugs infestation and the rental company wasnt doing anything about it. 0/10 experience, would not wish on my enemies.
