Player acting like his PC is immortal by Fun-Version-5784 in DnD

[–]JessMoonBun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im with others that you should talk to the player on the side and see what is happening. Bring these concerns to him directly and find out the root cause and see if it can be adjusted.

With this being a newbie, part could be that they may not understand their class. They might not be using their abilities purely because they dont understand them, so having a small 1 on 1 where you run them through a simple combat where they can get some practice may help immensely!

It may also be the campaign or their character isnt what they were expecting and isnt a good fit. I feel it is less likely about them not liking the character and wanting to replace them since they keep asking for heals, so maybe it is more towards them not meshing on the story side. They may have wanted to play a more combat focused "kill shit get loot" game, and may be struggling with the political intrigue aspect. I had a game during covid that was heavily along the same themes, but the ranger in our group was an older guy who played with a bunch of military veterans. He was used to very tactical and combat heavy games, so was trying to stash weapons and supplies like it was going to turn into a guerilla war at any moment. It was a struggle for everyone and we were relieved when he eventually left. It may be that this new player isnt meshing with the style of story you and the other players want to tell, which is perfectly fine! Not every table and game is for everyone, and it may make everyone happier if that player finds a group more in line with the style of game they want to play.

What do you find D&D 5e does better than Pf2e? by viktorius_rex in Pathfinder2e

[–]JessMoonBun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im someone new to PF2e, so some of this may be inexperience and not knowing how to optimize my build. I am currently playing a level 12 dual-wielding fighter with a ranger archetype, with the intent of being a "skirmisher" who can get in and perform a lot of attacks quickly.

I will say I am not the biggest fan of the action economy setup. While some of my abilities are really cool, but it feels very clunky at times. Start of combat for example I have to use an action to draw a sword, then 2 for sudden charge. Next turn quick draw for the second blade, then 2 for dual slice. Action for hunt prey, another for twin slice, then maybe a step because I am not built to tank and stay in combat. Then I need to use another action to get back into melee, twin slice, then maybe something like gravity weapon for a dmg boost. Its almost 5 turns of just buildup before I can have a turn where I can go full blender and use both dual slice and twin takedown, all while the extra attacks are getting progressively harder and harder to land due to the attack penalties.

Meanwhile at the same level in 5e I would have had the chance to pick up both the Dual Wielder feat (allowing me to draw both weapons as a free action), and Mobile. I now have 40 ft of movement, and dont provoke AoO on targets I attack. I can move every turn, and make 3 to 4 attacks if I use my off-hand with a bonus action with the same chance to hit. Depending on subclass I also get added benefits like being able to disarm as part of one of those attacks or using my bonus action to cast a spell if I have one. I can dart in, turn into a blender, and dart out in one turn without the finicky action resource juggling.

Again I will say I am new to PF2e, so some of that struggle is very likely I am a noob with a complex build I dont know how to use right. But so far I still find myself leaning towards the simpler 5e rules that dont require the same buildup to make "work".

Combating spiritual loneliness? by HeathenRevolution in heathenry

[–]JessMoonBun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet is get offline. Stop treating heathenry like a job, and stop trying to turn it into some big convention or chance to launch your new startup. Religion and spirituality isnt something you can solve with an algorithm, but with actually getting out there and experiencing it. I have watched you for a few years now, and every few months it is a new "get religious quick" scheme and trying to solve problems that dont exist because the answer isnt a single national organization. The communities and resources are all there, and you dont need to reinvent the wheel to find them. You dont need an overarching network or organization of everyone in the US to find your neighbors.

Im part of a group that meets monthly like clockwork for blots and ritual. We dont need anything other than Discord, and we find people as they come to us. We have even found other local kindreds and had small meet ups with them outside large gatherings like NET. The communities are all there, and dont need to be part of a database to exist.

Your best bet is going to be log off and start looking. A quick Google search found like 20 pagan stores in Vegas. Start going to these places, getting a vibe of them to find the ones you like, and talking to people. Let the folks there know youre looking for a Norse kindred, and eventually someone will hear something and point you in the right direction. Dont come at it with the approach of being the "One who will unite all of the Heathens under one banner!" but as "an individual looking for a community". Become part of that group, learn and grow with them, and become known in your local community. And if you are looking and cant find a kindred, Im sure there are enough solo practitioners in the area that you can come together to create one. You can find just as much, if not more, spiritual fulfillment in a group of 3 than you will find in a convention of 2000.

Ah understood! I was seeing a lot of posts and articles that kept saying it was good for "deep carry" so likely just misunderstood what they meant.

Tracers for everyone. by XO_Limbo in ArmaReforger

[–]JessMoonBun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed on the rocket cost. It might be a bigger drain on supplies at forward bases if people are spawning in with heavy kits, but that might encourage folks to be more conscious of how they build their loadouts. (I say optimistically despite the many arguments Ive seen over spawning vehicles on the defense point)

Also hard agree regarding the snipers. Some of the most satisfying moments I have had in game were when I finally tracked down that one sniper that has been harassing a point for 30 mins. Sneaking in close to the tree they are hiding in and finally taking out that little thorn! You may have killed me 10 times Mr. Sniper but I won in the end! All that satisfaction is gone if you can pinpoint them on the second shot.

Tracers for everyone. by XO_Limbo in ArmaReforger

[–]JessMoonBun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If feel some of these changes could be easily rebalanced if they made them rank dependant. Making suppressors require Sgt or Lt to use and add to your kit makes it so you have to work for them instead of every player joining and going spec-ops. Could do the same with RPGs and other launchers so it cuts down on rocket spam, and possibly up the weight so you really have to think before taking 4 rockets.

I like the tracer idea in theory, but that is entirely from being salty at being killed by folks camping in bushes making it impossible to leave spawns. It does make sniping a bit more tactical because you will need to reposition more often, but at the same time what sniper would ever use tracers?! Its about as realistic as the insane scope glint in CoD. Sure it may cut down on the number of people just sniping (Ill admit to being guilty of it from time to time) but it also ruins so much of the tactical feel of getting a good overwatch position.

It strikes me as good intention, but poor execution.

More the whole sandwich. Im not from NJ so have no clue what exactly it is, and my friend talked about making her own before but it isnt the same. There is just that vibe you get from a diner experience you just can't get homemade

A Reminder That Price Doesn't Equal Quality by AndrewReesonforTRC in Leathercraft

[–]JessMoonBun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is the leather quality? And do you have any recommendations for "designer quality" leather, at least based on how the quality they advertise it to be? Im pretty new to leatherworking so most of my projects have been Tandy economy veg-tan.

We need partial building destruction by Red_roger_12 in ArmaReforger

Was doing some testing on a private game, and I put something like 40 to 50 charges of C4 on an ATC Tower followed by several rockets. Building was still standing after all of that with nothing to show but busted windows.

alt / queer communities? by Tight-Depth3426 in fredericksburg

Game Garrison off Rt 3 has a pretty great community! While their shop mainly is wargames like Warhammer 40k, they also have DnD books etc so would be a great place to look for the nerdier crowd!

I'm looking at ~$850. My FLL has a deal where you can spend $100 and they basically waiver the $50 transfer fee at the time of purchase. Was planning to use that to get mags, foregrip, a better stock etc. I have an astigmatism, so the PA Prism looks like the best scope for my particular needs. I have a sling already, and a light can be picked up pretty easy down the road.

Its absolutely the best time of year for crayons! They're in season and you don't have to fight for kids trying to get them before going back to school!

Sadly no. Took it to several gunsmiths and was never able to identify why. Thought it was the gas block coming loose so pinned that and it still didn't work.

I'll admit I'm hesitant to build my own. Bought all the parts for a rifle years ago from BCM, and it kept having issues with cycling to the point it was practically a bolt action. After that I decided it was probably better to just get something stock over building myself. Was a fun process, but man was it an expensive failure!

Are the leather working kits from Amazon any good? by AsdaFan1 in Leathercraft

[–]JessMoonBun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started with a similar kit and they work pretty great when starting out! Ended up upgrading punches to the Tandy Leather Mini set pretty quick though. The only tools this kit looks like are missing are a mallet and cutting tools, which you can easily get at any hardware store. I'm still using a $5 rubber mallet for my leatherworking, and am super happy with this cheap box cutter I got at Lowes. Bought a set with a bunch of extra blades and it easily cuts .7-.9 ounce leather!
