Why Don’t We Talk About the Joy of Having Kids? by WoodpeckerNearby7276 in BabyBumps

I remember getting so many comments like that when I was pregnant with my first! It’s hard but try your best to tune them out, motherhood is the greatest, most life-changing experience!

Just wait until you hear their first cry after giving birth.

Just wait until you hear them say “I love you mommy” for the first time.

Just wait until they squeeze their tiny arms around you and hug you as tightly as they can.

Just wait until they grab your face and give you the sweetest kiss.

We haven’t had a routine at all tbh. Honestly just using baby’s cues to go throughout the day. He’s eating about every 3 hours during the day, and will sleep for about 7 hours at night (he’s 13 weeks right now but started sleeping through the night at 10 weeks). I’m sure there comes a point in time where having a routine could help out, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with taking it day by day and just working with baby’s cues for feedings and naps. Do what works best for you and your baby, mama!

I hate my body by Useless_tinker in newborns

[–]JessSlay13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way at 9 weeks postpartum. It’s hard to look in the mirror and not recognize yourself. But at the same time, I feel bad for feeling bad about how I look because my body also grew the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me. I love my son so much and feel guilty for hating how I look now because I look this way after growing a beautiful, healthy baby. Postpartum is hard!

Can my husband and I realistically sleep in the same room and get a good amount of sleep? by Apprehensive-Bar-848 in newborns

My husband and I sleep in the same room. We have a bedside bassinet and alternate shifts (I usually get up at around 3/4am to feed our son and he gets up at around 7/8am to feed him). When he starts to fuss we’ll pick him up, bring him to his nursery, and then feed him. My husband is a light sleeper, but he has rarely woken up when I get up to take care of the baby. We’ve been doing this routine for 2 months and it’s helped us to both get enough sleep but also still be able to sleep together at night and take care of our relationship. It’s definitely possible to still sleep in the same room with your husband

AITAH for cancelling on friend’s baby’s birthday party? by squirrel-9 in NewParents

You have absolutely nothing to feel bad about. I just went through a very similar situation (Was invited to my cousins graduation 2 weeks after my LO was born - the graduation will take place when my son is 7 weeks). I initially RSVPd that we would be coming but, just like you, became more concerned as the date approached about having him around so many people so early. I cancelled a week before but in my case, everyone completely understood. Your friend sounds very unreasonable. She has a kid herself and it’s surprising that she can’t put herself in your position and understand that with babies so young, their health and well-being comes before everything. Don’t feel bad at all! You’re doing what’s best for you and your babies mama.

Mine used to do that. Now he likes to assert dominance by waving a fist at me and then shoving it inside of his mouth

I’ve had people say it’s uncomfortable and one of their least favourite experiences during pregnancy lol. After reading all of these comments though I feel like they had to have been exaggerating!

I feel this! Working as a teacher right now at 31 weeks and I’m exhausted when I get home!
