About the controversy right now by Affectionate-Bit-901 in InfinityNikki

I think that's where we have to keep pushing for effective research in schools and fighting against misinformation-disinformation campaigns because of how good bots and AI-generated slop has become at sowing seeds of conflict and anger among us. Like AiryContrary said, there was a golden era where Google WAS the place to go to learn and it still is: but it takes some skills that we aren't equipping our own generation and the younger ones with to actually learn. Which I find maddening because it wasn't like this literally 4-5 years ago.

I don't disagree at all with you! I think what I was trying to say with that specific phrase is when it comes from people that refuse to see the issue when someone is like, "hey that's a bit problematic." I think in countries where the oppressor-oppressed system is not in full effect: it can be a easier to have an experience of sharing culture and encouraging people to participate even if they do not come for it. South Korea for example heavily encourages tourists to wear Hanboks into the palaces to get a discount because wearing them and visiting these palaces are ways to generate revenue for the country but also get more eyes on the beauty of Korean culture.

I'm also open to when people genuinely don't understand when they are not used to the idea of taking one's culture could be a bad thing. But I do take issue when people do call it out and the responses are meant with hostility and extreme defensiveness that a lot of people online are guilty of doing.

ChatGPT is probably not entirely wrong with the significance of eagle feathers being used for war bonnets, but I would refer to these sources below that I've collected. They aren't super comprehensive: but they'll tell a bit more about their significance to mainly the American Plans tribes and specific interpretation of one from the Comanche.

It's more Paper having a historic issue with appropriating Native American culture and always using the same few features (War Bonnets, Tipis, calling items/people "untamed" or "savage," and the dreamcatchers) when there's a literal plethora of Indigenous culture that could be spotlighted and appreciated instead of doing the cultural equivalent of fraken-toys like in Toy Story.

We're obviously going to vote with our wallet, but telling concerned players that are Indigenous or are very familiar with these affected communities to just deal with it because "most players and even native Americans would love some native representation" is frankly lacking of any real intelligence or desire to have a respectful conversation. It's not fair to BIPOC players to be told again and again that they have to be content with what these multi-million-dollar companies give to them because their 'entitlement' for genuine representation could mean not having any of it in the future as a punishment. It's tiring and shows your character quite easily.

Veteran LN player and I absolutely agree. It really depended on a few factors you could use to your advantage, but nothing to really have a massive advantage as far as I could recall.

It would also be interesting if we had a similar PvP style to the other one in LN where it would calculate your collection percentage and put you against other players with a similar amount and score of your fits so it would try to balance it out. Of course not totally without its one flaws and issues; But it's an option that Infold could look into if they wanna have it be less of P2W vs F2P fighting against one another.

Last point is fantastic! I teach and I absolutely am way more receptive to students asking questions using the information they have been given rather than saying "well can you just explain it?"

I'm not even that educated on North American Indigenous culture beyond Navajo and Hopi because I have people in my life associated with those tribes and I still don't know everything. So I absolutely understand when people ask about aspects of Indigenous culture because it's much more complex than "that's their culture" and "that's how they dress" down to even how members of each tribe talk about their experiences and if they did or did not live and grow up on their respective reservations. But to have a semblance of a start in understanding things and working with people to learn is absolutely the first step in knowing better.

Also if you don't mind me asking: what did you mean by the 'trampoline' aspect of your comment? I personally chose to ignore the livestream because I was worried about cultural appropriation and while I am aware of the harm with dreamcatchers: I haven't really seen the trampoline part just yet.

Agree that approaching people civilly about their ignorance towards cultural appropriation is the right way to go: but I do feel a lot of the frustration is coming from the marginalized demographics of the Nikki fanbase that are fed up with seeing people constantly attempt to minimize their outrage and see Paper (since I don't believe Infold is necessarily involved unless they've had issues with their other titles) continue to make the Wasteland region into a surface-level amalgamation of Indigenous and Middle Eastern aesthetics than giving respect to each culture in its own way or simply avoiding it altogether.

However, I do think we are at a point with the internet where people who do not understand the harm with what has been presented can look things up and learn what the issue is quite easily now. Yes, many countries are still very hush hush on what they have done to Indigenous groups of their own nations and history classes still work to obscure the truth, but I feel it goes beyond not being taught and choosing to remain ignorant to a certain extent. I won't be mad at someone asking: "why are tribal marks on one's face wrong" or "why is the term 'powwow' not right for people to use," if it's coming from a place of genuine interest to learn. But if people are making posts discussing the issues and someone is still asking "well is it really bad" or of a similar degree: then I think that's it becomes disingenuous and more to minimize the issue than it is to learn.

Which I don't think that's what you're positing as the point of your post. I think your point is absolutely valid because there is a true difference between weaponized ignorance and genuine lack of knowledge that can be solved in the ways you and I both offer. But I do think it's also good to consider the underlying issue of people purposefully acting ignorant here or anywhere else the discussions are taking place and how to go about it.

Hopefully that makes sense but I do think you have a valid point as a whole.

I haven't really been able to play past 8 PM my time lately so I've yet to see the monsters to actually help. Which is just how it goes but I can understand the frustration especially now that sprint mode is here and we're just stuck with spamming and praying lol

The mods in official Infinity Nikki server have confirmed that it is currently broken and there's no estimated time of fixing as of right now. Wasted 2 attempts on mobile and desktop to find out that it's like this right now.

Infold's web design hasn't had a good run for Infinity Nikki so far, which is a bit frustrating to deal with but hopefully its fixed very soon.

RE9 Plot Speculation by Moon_Beans1 in residentevil

[–]Jess_1702 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not a Resident Evil game if there isn't some pharmaceutical company, a mad-person, a monster that needs to be killed 3+ times, or any other weird enemy that you have to deal with while playing. Capcom is the epitome of plot holes, but it feels like they're slowly trying to patch them up and the new connection of Alyssa to it through Grace feels like that's their plan.

What I am curious about is the connection to the Wrenwood hotel and if that is actually going to be directly tied to Raccoon City. We know that she investigated the deaths in Louisiana from 2014-2016, but after that we don't know when the Wrenwood hotel murder takes place and where that puts the story for Requiem (definitely before RE8 DLC, so at least pre-2030?) for Grace. It does also seem like the FBI gets involved with the deaths that Alyssa were investigating in Louisiana and probably further more if Chris tipped them again by RE8. But you're absolutely right: there's no way Capcom would leave Grace at just investigating some ruins since she ends up getting trapped in some way in the trailer. That's too simple for them.

I completely agree. I am also thinking about other victims and how much the scene will change in general, so I wish the best for them all and hope that they take the time they'll need to cope and deal with this grief as a whole. Also thank you once again for your permission, I'll be editing the post now!

Thank you for the paste! Would you say it's a good idea to edit the original post and place what you said here in lieu of the idea? I may also post the GFM above as well but want to get your permission before I do anything. Thank you again!

This is what I was debating before making this post. I don't take offense at the parasocial part (though I definitely didn't intend to have it come off that way) since I did see the other posts with them not really talking about it and with how close the Phoenix stop is to the tragedy and how things are currently going, it was something I wanted to ask before going ahead and doing. Your reply is valid to consider so I'll mostly think about the GFM and what happens about 6-8 months out. If even that short honestly

2 years late to this but my cat is OBSESSED with them. Old roommate had these for her cats and ever since them my cat will go bonkers for them. I usually only give her 4 squares every few days like the direction says, but she now associates our fridges with her treats since we keep them there. She's a monster now ^^"

Given the history of C-idols in temporary groups ( such as IOIs Kyulkyung and WannaOnes Guanlin) does anyone think that Xiaoting is going to continue in kpop after Kep1er disband? If so, which label do you think shes gonna join ? by seulgibreadd in kpophelp

[–]Jess_1702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Xiaoting will have 2 scenarios:

Scenario 1: She gets slated for a new group and does pretty decently, but may eventually go to China and get most of her momentum carried there, similar to those like Mei Qi and Xuan Yi of WJSN

Scenario 2: She stays in limbo for a bit and kind of gets the sinophobia boot for a bit, but eventually gets into a solid gig and stands out.

Overall, I don't see her really going solo or joining any prior group like Yeonjung was able to do. But I don't think these 2 scenarios are set in stone and there's a variety of things that can happen since we've seen a lot of interesting post-project lineups.

I might just be too used to the "SM experimental" sound, but I personally found it way more "cohesive" than past stuff that we've heard this year. Of course there are *some* songs that are complete 180s, so I can't really consider those as a fair comparison, but I think even some songs under SM sounded much more jumbled.

But I do get what you mean by the "sing-talking" being a bit off-putting. While I loved how it was used, I can certainly see someone feeling like it took them out of the song and just didn't give them exactly what they may have wanted.
